Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We made the right choice to book our stay at Starworld for 2 nights over other hotel brands. Room 2938 offered a splendid view and amenities were top notch (Nespresso coffee machine, teapots, bathtub and separate shower cubicle, heated toilet seat with bidet functions, Dyson hairdryer, L'Occitane toiletries, electrical curtains, plenty power charging points, good room lighting, etc) Starworld is part of Galaxy Group which offers a wide range of culinary selections with Michelin accolades at reasonable prices. Galaxy privilege card holders (GEG) get to enjoy discounts when dining at their restaurants. You can enroll at their casino with your passport. We tried Laurel and enjoyed their Peking Duck very much. Passion, a swiss-french bakery that is worh a mention with their daily menus and service too. Do note that Starworld is good for adult travellers who wishes to stay near Old Town. Galaxy which houses various established hotel brands at Cotai will be more suited for family with children with their resort theme.
I would like to make a special mention and kudos to the hospitality team for making a birthday celebration a memorable one too. Peggy from reservations reached out to us to affirm our booking and to preempt us of Typhoon Saola approaching. The warm and friendly front desk hosts, Shaine and Andy being multilingual made us feel home coming and strike us with that instant familiarity. Check-in was usually at 3pm but we were notified that room was ready by 1pm, a bonus which we appreciated. A pleasant sweet surprise when we entered the room with birthday decorations that showed special care and attention! A personal welcome from hotel supervisor Rain and VP Jeff topped the bar and we felt special and privileged. Totally swept by their superb customer service, a holiday trip that any traveller would wish for. Thank you Starworld and their dedicated members for making this Macau trip such a memorable and special one!

I chose this hotel as part of my hotel hopping experience due to the branding at first. I didnt expect a lot but my goodness I loved the view! Thank you to the receptionist who not only upgraded me to a higher floor without my request, she also gave me one with the nicest view! I was so happy to be able to stay at an executive room, it is a small gift for myself as I wanted a mini getaway from all the work stress and homesickness. Front desk also provided me with a complimentary fruit basket, I had a blast relaxing in the bathtub with the fragrant bath soap omg I wished I had a bath bomb, maybe next time! My room had a minor problem with the closet door but the maintenance fixed promptly without any further problems.. First time experiencing turndown service, it was awesome to be treated as a VIP. Thank you for everything, I will definitely come back again!

My BF and I are celebrating our anniversary at StarWorld Macau and the team sure nailed it! They make our anniversary so wonderful with excellent service and warm heart! the hotel staff even arranged special celebration chocolates and rose bubble bath when we are doing the city sightseeing, what a surprise! Hotel facilities and the cityline swimming are amazing, although it is not a brand new hotel compared to other new hotels in Cotai, however, it just got its' hotel rooms renovated so the suite we stayed is pretty fresh and upgraded, the hotel itself and the room seems even better than we checked in a few years ago. and the staff there are so cheerful and make it like coming home. if you are considering staying in Macau Peninsula, you must experience this hotel and their service! Pretty nice memory for this stay, will definitely choose StarWorld again if we visit Macau again during Christmas. Thumbs up!

Spent 2 nights at StarWorld during Chinese New Year and enjoyed comfortable cusotmer journey there.
Hotel staff were nice and arranged room on high floor with nice view. What’s more, I could get various compliementary drinks (i.e. coffee, tea, beer, herbal tea, soft drink) at mini bar, select different pillows, eat free fruits & Chinese New Year snack in room everyday, enjoy breakfasts (it would be better if have clearer signage) and free wifi. Really good services.
Also, location is convenient where near to the HK-Macau Ferry Terminal with several free shuttle bus lines.

My reason for such a poor review is due to the fact that they allow smoking at the poker tables. Other parts of the casino around the poker area is non-smoking but in the actual poker area and at the tables they allow smoking. Only place in Macau that allows this. Other than that its a standard poker room, standard Macau 5% up to 200 HKD rake, but it is the only casino with a poker room loyalty card which is cool. I just cant get past the smoking so I will not be back here again.

I visit Macau several times a year - not for the gambling but for the food :-) I have tried several hotels during my many stays and still finds Starworld my all time favourite. The hotel is not huge like Venetian or the Galaxy complex and they can therefore provide a more exclusive experience. I do not have to manuover myself among the crowd like I had to when I stayed at Venetian and Wynns. Being located in the main city, I am in close access to my favourite restaurants and eateries. The hotel provides a range of shuttle buses to many locations including the new Galaxy complex. This is useful when I wish to try my luck in one of the large casinos in Cotai. The rooms here are really spacious and can easily fit an extra bed. Try to request for a room overlooking the lake. I always book a room on the Executive floor so that I can enjoy the view and also be slightly away from the "group" crowd.

I was surprised to find out the Poker King Club inside StarWorld Macau has been "eliminated" from the casino property. I was there last year November 2013 and they seems to be running fine, except the small number of players (probably the reason for the close).
The only hotels/casinos that still run Texas Hold'em games, I believe are Wynn Macau (cash games only), City of Dreams (cash and tournaments), and the Venetians Macau (cash only?).
I got to play at City of Dreams. Will give a review of that separately.
I did not stay at the property, only gone there to see if they still have Texas Hold'em so can't say anything about the hotel room. But the casino is one of the newer properties in Macau Central. Walking distance to Wynn Macau (closest), Grand Lisboa, MGM, and the like. The property seems to be well maintained.
I should also mention that the hotel has transportation to and from the Galaxy in the Cotai strip. I believe they also has transportation to and from the Macau Ferry Terminal.

I only spent one night but I wish I could stay longer. The rooms are big, nice furnished with a luxurious bathroom.
Service was great but remember this was designed for mainland Chinese high rollers, not Westerners. That said the staff spoke excellent English, they were friendly and helpful.
If you want a good espresso you need to go next door to the Win for Starbucks. We only ate in the noodle shop and it was good. If you have to have Western food you are in the wrong place.
The casino is on multiple floors with multiple VIP clubs, seems weird to my Western mind. They had the tallest Philippine model treaters in the lobby and a ladyboy musical in the lobby.... both very cool.
I would be happy to stay here again.
I did not get a chance to try the pool or gym.

visit the pool on the 17 th floor its a must see. there s a breakfest buffet on one of the floors it s not listed very well ask! the dim sum for lunch is very good the hotel rooms are European style To Me it looked like the rooms at the Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas.. overall a very nice hotel casino.

An excellent services and food from the restaurant but if compare with other Galaxy's hotel...the room may need update...Room service is nice and fast response, shuttle bus to Galaxy is very fast and convenient, I was staying on 30/F which is non-smoking level but still have many people smoke from others room.. anyway, I will be back..
