This hotel is the perfect family-owned luxury hotel. We absolutely loved it and it was the highlight of our Austrian vacation. We were there during one of their adults-only weeks in the autumn. My partner also wrote a review on our stay but I couldn’t resist writing my own review to add some details. The hotel is located in a pretty village in the middle of the Tyrol Alps, and the spectacular views over the valley and the Alps are breathtaking. Everything here was exceptional: the decoration was luxurious yet warm and quaint, with lots of beautiful wood paneling; the atmosphere is calm, relaxed and not stuffy; the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful; the food was refined and delicious; and the facilities (pools and saunas) are fantastic. Read on for details. Our room on the side of the hotel, overlooking the Grubig mountain, was very large, warm and cosy, with very nice mountain views from our cute balcony. Upon arrival, a small bottle of sparkling wine, fresh fruits and nuts were waiting for us in the sitting area. The rooms facing the Zugspitze seem to have even better views but we were happy with ours. The ground floor had a nice and cosy bar and lobby with spectacular views over the valley and the impressive Zugspitze massif and the surrounding mountains. The restaurant next to it is beautiful, sophisticated yet relaxed. The breakfast buffet was very generous with several quality cheese and meats, an eggs station, freshly squeezed juice, delicious rustic breads, etc. At night, the 6 course dinner was delicious and refined. In-between, there was a small buffet with soup, salads and desserts served between 1-5. Each room has an assigned table for its entire stay, so you can go for breakfast or dinner at any time within the opening hours, which is nice. The pools and spa areas are breathtaking: there is and indoor-outdoor pool and a separate hot salt water infinity pool overlooking the valley and the Alps. It was very nice to relax in the pool in the cool weather and enjoy the views after a nice hike. The saunas area is impressive, with several different wet or dry saunas. The panoramic sauna, with large windows overlooking the mountains, was especially nice. Everything was very well maintained and clean. All saunas were mixed and the dress/undress code was well indicated in each area to avoid confusion (this was useful for us Canadians since we were unsure of the codes). The hotel organizes several activities, but we could easily walk on our own for hours in the beautiful valley surrounded by the Alps directly at the hotel doorstep. The quality of the service was exceptional: everyone we talked to was very friendly, professional and helpful, from Bernard, the colorful barman, to our waiter Justin and Regina at the front desk. We highly recommend this hotel and we hope to go back. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

What a spectacular hotel. We stayed only two nights and it was the highlight of our Austrian trip. The hotel itself is gorgeous and the staff are kind and attentive. Regina @ the front desk was extremely helpful and helped us with several issues including our train ride back to Munich. She is a hard worker and was always in a good mood. Danke Regina!! Justin @ the restaurant was also a joy to deal with. His attention to detail was very much appreciated. We wish you luck with your travels. The views from the hotel are the best we have ever seen. If you are going to the Tyrol area, this is the place to pamper yourself. The meals are included and are fresh and delicious. It’s fun to have a free snack time during the day! Breakfast meals include eggs, bacon, charcuterie, vegetables, breads, jams etc. You won’t leave here hungry.

I had had stayed here 10 years ago for a ski vacation and I’m not sure why I waited so long to come back. I have stayed at numerous hotels in Austria and northern Italy expecting to find a hotel as nice as the Post Hotel but I never did. I’ll be here again in January and again next September. There is just so much to offer in this area of Austria. I don’t know what I can add to what other reviewers have said. The hotel is first class in every category: rooms, food, spa and pool area, staff courtesy, cleanliness. There is nothing here that can be improved upon. If you stay anywhere else you’re just wasting your money.

This was the 4th time we have stayed at Hotel Post- we love it and the thought of going back kept us going during lockdown. It is a wonderful experience for both kids and adults. The thing that sets the place apart from anywhere else we have been is that the staff really look after you- they genuinely care about you and it comes across in everything they do. We were a few hours late arriving (some travel difficulties!) and they phoned us to check we were OK. It is the same fabulous staff that we see year on year, and the same fabulous welcome, the same fabulous view. The food is amazing. The swimming pool is so lovely. The craftmanship that has gone into the hotel is still apparent- it is so beautiful, and every time we go back we notice it. Our room was as lovely as normal and how lovely to come back to after the pandemic. The barman (whose name I still don't know to my shame) is such a lovely chap and fed and watered us when we arrived late- a fantastic platter, lovely drinks and such a personalised welcome.

We visited Hotel Post regularly since 2012, so for over more tha(this time) end of April was fantastic ! Nice room on the 4th floor with a wonderful view. After arrival, we enjoyed our first lunch we enjoyed on the sunny terrace. Breakfast was as usual, just perfect and quality of dinner, however great since 2012, keeps improving. Combined with some nice wines. We also enjoyed the "gala dinner" on Sunday evening. Many thanks to all the staff and personnel for their hospitality and thanks Bernd for the drinks in the bar and the nice talks and advise !

We spent one night at this most wonderful hotel in the middle of the mountains. We got two rooms that were connected via the balcony for our party of 5. The view of the zugspitz, the morning walk in the moor, the starry night, the excellent 5-course dinner and the wonderful breakfast buffet! We used it as a stopover on our Bavarian trip and went to see the Neuschwanstein castle from here. But we are most definitely coming back to spend more time hiking and discovering this area.

There is so much to like about the Hotel Post. The staff are charming. The welcome, when you arrive, is personal, helpful and efficient. The rooms are comfortable and very well appointed, and it’s like the managers of the hotel have thought of everything. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The food in the restaurant - you have no choice but to stay here full board - is really good; breakfast is absolutely 5* and the dinner menu is interesting, varied and genuinely delicious - served by cheerful, enthusiastic staff who seem to make a good experience even better. The spa is extensive and impressive although - being British - we did find the enforced nudity in the saunas a little bit uncomfortable.... But the superstar of the whole place is the view. It is mesmerising: the pretty valley with its green fields and wooden huts and the massive mountains in the background that change colour and mood constantly through the day. The walking here in the mountains is spectacular but there is lots more to do, depending on your wishes, and the hotel staff will happily assist you. We loved this hotel in so many different ways - we were, I think, the only British people staying there for the entire week of our stay - and I have no doubt that we will be back again before long.

Great hotel and service as you would expect for this price. We had a junior suite on the 4th floor with view on the Zugspitze (which we unfortunately couldn't see due to the weather) which we enjoyed. Despite the weather being suboptimal, we did not run out of things to do. You can take a walk in the moor, visit the castles nearby or simply enjoy the hotel's SPA area (which is quite sizeable given they built an extra part some time ago). You will always find a space where you can relax. Service is great and the food is an experience. Dinner includes a 5-course meal (with at least 2 choices for the starter and the main course) and breakfast has a lot of choice and is tasty as well. However, the afternoon buffet could be a bit imaginative. In terms of guests, has a variety wrt age and constellation (young and old couples but also families). Although it had some kids when we were there, the SPA area was quiet (as kids-free) but it could get a bit noisy during dinner time (just go there a bit later). Overall a very good experience and what you'd expect frrom a SPA hotel in Austria in this price segment. We can definitely recommend going there.
