This hotel at best was a 2 1/2 star. The walls were paperthin and I heard all of the neighboring rooms all night. When I went to the reception to check out, I discovered it was not going to open until 8 am. I've never been to a four-star hotel that didn't have its reception manned 24 hours a day....

L'orangerie is the bistro restraint of the up market restaurant in the main chateau. we opted for the lunch set menu which had enough choices for main course. The meal and service was very good and value for money for a high standard, like many establishments of this type the wine list was extensive but expensive

The buildings and grounds are impressive, the experience not so much. Upon our late arrival (about 2100) we discovered that neither of the hotel's two restaurants were available for dinner that night since all tables had already been booked. Never in all of our travels (North and South America, Europe, Asia) have we failed to have meals available at the...

We booked a night at this hotel at the last minute and could only get a room in the Orangerie. The hotel said the rooms were clean but basic and this was reflected in the price. We didn't consider them basic at all and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel could not have done more for us. We've always found...

Went there with my wife end of june. We only had a day and a half in Périgueux so we booked at L'orangerie which was a bit cheaper than staying at the castle itself. They are both on the same property and relatively close from downtown Périgueux however you still need a car to get there. The reception is amazing...

The castle and grounds are beautiful. We were very impressed as we pulled up. The orangerie is a separate building within the grounds. We rented two rooms there. They were small rooms with good beds and bathrooms. However, both rooms reeked of smoke. To keep the air breathable we had to keep the windows open. Unfortunately people would smoke outside...

We spent two nights here last month and were delighted. The rooms in L'Orangerie are fairly standard hotel rooms, and are comfortable. The Bistro was a delight, the head waiter being particularly hard working and charming. I can recommend the hotel as a good base for exploring the delights of the Perigord region.

We were very disappointed, we actually travelled out of our way to stay at this Hotel. Our room was very tired, had no air conditioning. It was hot and we need to keep the large window open all night. The food we thought would make up for it but that also turned out to be very average and by no...

We are currently staying at this hotel and have just had a superb meal in the bistro followed by a coffee on the terrace - it could not be improved upon! Our room is great with everything you would hope for and the staff at the hotel have been most welcoming and helpful. We were worried when we read the...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights as part of a touring holiday in France that we booked through Brittany Ferries. This was our second hotel on route and what a disappointment it was. Firstly it is in the middle of a housing estate, and although has its own grounds you are surrounded by residential houses. It is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Orangerie, at fifty metres from the Castle, at the end of a lane with chestnut trees, formes the modern part of the Château des Reynats. Two staircases and an elevator lead to the 37 rooms that have been designed and furnished with the idea of « cosiness »: light walls, chocolate brown wood, white tiles and white marble with pastel-coloured azulejos and pistachio green earthenware, a large, leather armchair under a standard lamp for some relaxing, a large, white and lovely smelling duvet. ... more   less
