Came to Grundarfjorour to see Kirkjufellsfoss, and while it was an inclement day, the Old Post Office Hotel was a welcome respite.
Simple but comfortable single room, and a common area kitchen with nice water views
Great reception, and local help. Great view of mountains, bay other side.
Common area used by everyone, refrigerator for your use and a common use refrigerator, great idea. Eco conscious. All the needs met. There may be other types of room, as we had one...More
Extremely pleased with Old Post Office. Warm and helpful reception. We love this place, highly recommended. Very functional kitchen, many guests cooked up meals each night and swapped our travel stories. Large triple room with ensuite was great, and also the shared bathrooms we noted...More
I had a pleasant visit at the Old Post Office. The views offered in some rooms (towards the ocean and Kirkjufell), and the warm welcome, made the stay very appreciable.
I would perhaps describe this as more of a "luxury hostel" rather than a hotel,...More
Very interesting place. Old as the name said. Very small rooms with shared bathroom but overall very clean. Heated. Good wifi. Big kitchen with all fournitures and two big tables. No breakfast but we cooked dinner and breakfast

I cannot recall our room number and you would need to make any request with the guesthouse directly. However, I would add that the views 360 degrees around the guesthouse are awesome. If not the gorgeous coastal view, you can have a view looking inland which is hilly, mountainous, gorgeous. Plus, just stepping outside and soaking it all in from every angle and every view is beautifully rewarding. Don't limit your view of Iceland from a window - get out as much as you can and experience it all!
