We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Our room however was very small although it did contain everything needed. Immaculately clean. Free wi fi was great, The hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful. Englebert talked us through the menu of an evening and which wines to select. The food was typical of the region and average. The...

Chose to pay extra and had an upgraded room. Spacious with balcony and wonderful views. Powerful shower and comfortable bed. Food was excellent, especially the breakfast, where one could have all sorts of sausages as well as the usual fare. Great choice of tea. Hotel located right at the top of the town and on the red walking route, so...

We stayed for 1 night after our vacation in Italy. Weather was sunny and hotel has no AC. Food was typical local but excellent food, service was average, rather poor, with very long waiting time in the evening. Rooms very basic. Breakfast was good.

Hotel is good, village pittoreske, owner is very friendly in supplying 3x25 amps through mennekes connector (and connections for electric bikes). Great views, local wines, friendly people, large family room.

I stayed for three nights in June and had a lovely time. The setting on the top of the hill in breisach is wonderful. The restaurant has a panoramic view of the town and the hills and valleys. The hotel has a series of gardens at different levels with herbs and flowers. The food, both for breakfast and other meals...

I HIGHLY recommend this hotel for the hospitality, location and restaurant! I stayed here at the recommendation of a colleague. I never would have found the place on the internet as the hotel does not have an English translation on their German language page, and I was a little nervous about staying at a hotel in a country where I...

This was a welcomed surprise after a long day of cycling. The accomodations and food were fantastic. The staff could not have been more friendly, going out of their way to assist us in making travel reservations. I absolutely recommend this hotel!

My husband and I travelled to Breisach for a sort of family reunion/encounter visit. We stayed at this hotel along with many of the other participants. The service was exceptional and the manager/owner was always willing to go the extra mile to assist the guests. Dinners were excellent and there was always spaetzel to satisfy the young children in the...

My husband and I made an unexpected visit to the Kapuzinergarten after he suddenly became ill on a Rhine River cruise. We were taken to the hospital in Breisach and the cruise line booked me into the hotel. The hosts, Mr. Hau and his wife, were extremely kind from the outset. Mr Hau took me to the hospital and picked...

Stayed here as part of a planned cycling holiday with headwater. Ok but would not come back. Headwater must be paying a very small fee to the hotel as it felt we were on rations ! Food poor. The room was basic but very clean. New and shiny compact shower room.

Thank Matthewsh

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kapuzinergarten is situated on the top of the little hill of Breisach am Rhein with a beautiful and impressing view to the Kaiserstuhl, Tuniberg and Black Forest. Every room has this great view, you have the choice between the rooms in cottage-style (higher class) and the monastery-style (standard class). The cottage rooms have each an individual interior decoration and are very comfortable. The monastery rooms have a special charm due to several antiquities from a real monastery. The Restaurant Kapuzinergarten is in the house and has a great view, especially on the glazed terrace. There you can have a fine and fresh meal with seasonal and mostly bio-certificated ingredients. Wines from the region you are watching while your diner are being served, if you want. Otherwise you have the choice: Wines since 1974 are in the big wine cellar and can be ordered. If you are coming with an e-bike/car/motorcycle you can charge it for free on the parking. Breisach is well situated for day tours to Freiburg or Colmar (25 Minutes) or Basel and Straßbourg (1 Hour to drive to). And if you don't like to use your car: take the train! We make a shuttle service to get you to the train station. Engelbert Hau and his team are looking forward to your visit! ... more   less
