I never thought I would say this but as expensive as it was in comparison with the surrounding accommodations in Kundasang they were probably the best experience. Imagine it was cold enough for you to have a real wood fire in the fireplace. No kidding. This was not some electric fireplace. Real fire!!! This was the Summit Lodge we were staying in.

We stayed a night at the Nepenthes Lodge after spending 3 days at Sutera's sister property at Manukan Island. It was an amazing change from hot to cool weather in just two hours of easy driving. The lodge was newly renovated, very tastefully done, cosy and clearly a lot of thought went into it. A marvellous view of the majestic peak of Mount Kinabalu peeking through the trees from the nice balcony, appointed with two benches and a long table for a relaxing coffee while chilling with a book, binoculars and camera in hand to capture the birds. Amazing forest sounds of multitude of birds and other wildlife during morning and evening walks around the area. Service was wonderful. A very special mention for Shanty, who appeared at our door just after we checked in and made sure

We weren't doing the climb but decided to stay near Mount Kinabalu because the pictures of the mountain looked amazing. The view of the mountain from this hotel is incredible. It was so refreshing to be in cooler weather too. There are beautiful rainforest tracks everywhere. We needed to get transport from Mount Kinabalu to Kota Kinabalu early before the buses came past and beautiful Shanty - who works at reception - went above and beyond to help us get transport arranged. The people in Borneo were so friendly and kind and especially so at this lodge. I will definitely be back.

Sutera Sanctuary lodges is well maintain. I stayed at hill lodge a bit far from entrance and no WIFI available but no issue for me.The room is huge and feel luxurious. Amazing place for vacation . The flora and fauna around the lodge well preserved. Bird singing and insert sound on night make the great ambiance. There is track for jungle walk and deck to enjoy the kinabalu Mountain view.

Amazing 2 days up the Mountian, with 6 * service and accommodation. While staying in Kota Kinabalu we took the opportunity to visit the mountian, via SSL we had a limousine drive us up the mountain to our lodge, great drive up, with a short stop at the local market. The views are out of this world. On arriving the welcome from the staff was amazing, the lodge stunning, the surrounding foliage, rain forest and the air were breath taking. The temperature was around 18, so we decided to dine in, SSL arranged a chef to cook us incredible, delicious dinners and we even had a log fire on both nights, an experience never to be forgotten, too many staff to individually name, but we must mention Wanie who escorted us and walked us through the botanical mountain gardens, her knowledge and
