Bad knee enforced 3 nights at Mesilau whilst remainder of group tackled Mt Kinabalu. This place has had it. Badly run down and staffed by poory trained imported staff. Maybe employing some locals might engender some interest in their product. Food poor and cold....massive prices for beers. Such a shame because location is good with a really good guded walk of the local hillside available.

We stayed in a Crocker Range Room (RM 315). Very basic double room smelling quite mouldy and looking very tired. Had to walk 300m through the pouring rain at night to the restaurant to report no hot water coming through the showerhead. A guy came into our room with a spanner, removed the head to tweak something and screwed it back on to make it work. Then the next morning it was broken again! Extremely frustrating. Very poor form considering the shower in the empty room next door was exactly the same when I checked, so amazingly they're all like this yet they don't fix them. Shower screen doors were broken on the sliders too. RM315 is way too much to pay for a night here. Next time I'd stay in 5 star in KK for the same price and Taxi to the Mesilau trail instead. Staff were nice

We stayed in Low's Peak Lodge, a 3 bedroom lodge. Since Mesilau is part of the Sutera Sanctuary Lodge (owners of Sutera Harbour Resort), one would have expected a better level of facilities and service for the price of RM830. We were shocked to discover that: - there was only 1 bathroom for a 3 bedroom lodge. Not only that, the bathroom was in need of severe overhaul and the shower floor paint was chipping. - the lodge and the rooms were shabby looking - due to low peak season, there was no buffet breakfast. Instead, they cooked us ala carte breakfast. Food was nothing to shout about - coffee was tasteless, fruit juice was like sugar water etc Further, this hotel is located too far away from the nearby town area. However, because the food was so bad, we decided to drive out

Stayed in croaker range lodge for one nite-As a local, we feel very much cheated by the management. The room is musky, mouldy and smelly! Maintenance is almost zilt and not to mention the kind of price to pay-RM315 per nite! My years of travel experience tells me that such room is worth maximum RM130-150per nite excluding meals. Anyway, meals are costly & sucks too! Don't check in there until they fix up the place!!!
