One of the most beautiful places I've stayed in. The journey here was not the easiest, but once we're there, we didn't want to leave. The free breakfast was good, God-sent for a backpacker. Dinner was excellent! It was really nice to just lounge all day on the field, but what would make it perfect is just to place some sunbeds! Water in the shared shower was not hot.

The road condition to Hounon Ridge is terrible, especially if you are coming from the Ranau direction. The view from the homestay is spectacular but the service is not very good compared to our previous homestay in kundasang. If you intend to do steamboat ay night, please take note. Guests can rent their steamboat set but they wil provide u just the steamboat pot and the stove. There is no utensils and bowls and you need buy these from their pathetic little grocery shop. Also, it seems like by default no toilet rolls are provided in the room. The little coffee table set in our room is also broken. The only good thing about this homestay is the bed is very comfy.

We booked the room ahead for a night. So we got the ground floor room with balcony facing the mountain. The room has no ventilation, so the door and windows have to be opened during the day. During the night, although outside was cold, the room was stuffy and warm because of no ventilation. The room has no bottled water, coffee, tea, or cups for you to make a drink. You have to buy from the canteen. There were cockroach nymphs in the toilet when the lights were out at night. If it was not the price and the great view, I would give it a lower rating. You need a vehicle to stay here.

This is the most challenging journey I’ve ever been to. To reach this place, you have to drive very deep into the villages. The road is very extreme, requiring me turn the wheel here and there to avoid the holes. But you reach there, the view is breathtaking. Worth every part of the journey. The view in the morning 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The room is nice, no towel provided. Got camping site too.

Such an exquisite view of nature. Im fall in ♥️ with this place; worth the narrow & steep, potholes & bumpy road! Not to mention the enjoyable stargazing moment!. Whoever books for a stay is advisable to come before / by 6pm as the journey to reach here is quite challenging (steep, narrow, potholes & bumpy road). Magnificent view of sunrise & sunset with clear view of mt kinabalu. The place just provide the basic necessities & dont expect more; bed, towel, shower gel & shampoo. No aircond & no fan in the room. There is common area downstairs - kitchen & tv area. Its colder in the evening, night & morning. Basically u pay to enjoy the nature & priceless view.

I booked my room via WhatsApp, dealing with John previously. He is very responsive. The room was okay, equipped with basic amenities. Car parking space are quite spacious too. However, the location of this homestay is a bit far from the main road. The secondary road entering Bundu Tuhan is full of potholes which smaller car should be more cautious and drive slower through it. But the view from this place is priceless. This homestay also provide camping equipment for those that prefer more budget friendly / adventurous chilly night sleeping under the moonlight in tent.

The road going to the place is very challenging. Best to avoid if it is raining or inexperience driver. However, once reached the place, you'd feel the view is really rewarding. The building and compound was taken care very well.
