Stayed one Friday night and had evening meal and breakfast. Despite it being a busy check in with lots of guests, all the staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. Food was great value for money, dorms, bathrooms and lounge areas were very clean and comfy. Would recommend and stay again.

YHA Buttermere was a reminder of what an amazing service youth hostels can provide. Set in beautiful and remote surroundings yet near to the road, great walks and local pubs. Well appointed, clean and quiet with friendly and helpful staff. Affordable and easy to use with drying room, cosy bedrooms and lounge. The list goes on. I love youth hostels....

We stayed at this hostel for two nights and have found it difficult to review. On the plus side: its location is stunning with plenty of walks straight from the doorstep; there's free on-site parking; clean showers with lots of hot water; and a huge drying room which unfortunately we needed to make use of! On the downside: the self-catering...

Spent a night here with a group of friends. Booked a private room. Exactly what we'd expect from YHA. Amazing location. Didn't try the food but their staff were friendly and helpful. Great facilities. Would stay again or camp on site.

We had planned to camp but after a complete drenching in the Dales on the way to the Lakes we called this hostel and thankfully they had space in dorms. I haven't youth hostelled for 30 years and it was new to my 17 year old son too. We are now converts and joined the YHA whilst there. The facilities,...

My family and I normally camp when we visit the lakes but decided to try youth hostelling instead. It was all very last minute and struggled to find a YHA which could accommodate four of us. We booked into the King George YHA on 23/08/16 and from the staff on reception to the staff in the dining room they were...

The hostel generally was more than I expected! Our first night turned into a bit of a nightmare as my car needed to be abandoned in Keswick as the windscreen wipers broke with the rain lashing it down.... We arrived late for check in but the lady was so kind! She checked us in with no hassle, and made us...

This is, in our experience, the best hostel in the Lake District. Good location close to the Fish Inn for beers and a meal. Good drying room. Have a washing machine for guest use. Nice lounge on the 1st floor. Rooms bit cramped but good enough. Lots of showers and toilets. Nice staff. Great communication with them when making booking...

Stayed for 2 nights. We thought we.d booked the whole room but we hadn.t so we had 2 strangers in 'our' room. This meant we really had to make an effort ... music off ... less banter etc. Toilets and showers excellent. Mattress way too thin for hefty me. Self catering kitchen was too small ... I suppose they want...
