Easy to book. Remote hostel, information provided regarding alternative route due to Storm damage roads. Beautiful location, unrivalled position in Buttermere village. Car park is small, alternative parking is a short walk. Helpful staff on arrival. Interior decoration is clean, tidy, homely in traditional youth hostel style, huge drying room, good sized kitchen. View from lounge and dining room excellent....

Firstly, this is a YHA and you therefore need to go with an open mind and an awareness of what this means - it is a 5* hostel not a 5* hotel. Secondly, the is one of my absolute favourites in the Lakes - and I've stayed in nearly all of them! It is a beautiful old building that has...

Friendly staff, good facilities, lovely location. Good hiking routes. Great roads, walks, lakes. Very calm, great place to get away from it all. Good food. Overall a nice place. The WiFi you need to register your details with the company that provide it and then it is free. Left a night early due to home matters, and they kindly swapped...

excellent location, great staff, lovely food (breakfast) and a decent packed lunch, rooms, toilets and showers all clean as a whistle and will defiantly be stopping here again, beds were really comfortable, only 2 mins walk from the local pubs, however if you are feeling too worn out from your days exploring they stock a really good choice of beers etc...

We had a family room for 4 without en suite facilities. There were 2 bunk beds and a sink, and plenty of coat hooks. The staff are really friendly, and the kitchen is adequate. Our room was directly above the kitchen so it was rather annoying with the cups, pans and chatter going on long after our bedtime. The views...

Former hotel converted to use as a YHA hostel. Well situated just outside and above the village – good views across the valley. Parking on site. Staff efficient, friendly and welcoming. Building is well maintained and decorated. Dorms spacious and comfortable. Modern toilets and showers. Guest kitchen well equipped. Large comfy lounge. Nearest shops in Keswick. Pleasant stay. Recommended.

Very helpful staff, particularly Sarah, who gave us some good food recommendations. Great access to Buttermere and Crummock Water for swimming. Kirkstile Inn nearby (a short drive) is an excellent pub for food. Rooms a little dark, but the rooms and bathrooms were clean, tidy, spacious. All the usual YHA facilities. The fryups could have been a little more generous...

Stayed for one night in a private room. Friendly staff. Great location. Beautiful old building. Excellent facilities, including a drying room, lounge and self-catering kitchen. Great value for money. Only minor criticism would be the thin walls and noisy pipes! Overall would recommend.

The food was superb: GBP 8.50 for 3 very filling and freshly cooked courses. Good variety offered at breakfast too. Quiet dorm, very effective drying room and powerful, hot showers. Great location with instant access to a beautiful part of the Lakes.

After my group was too big for a few other spots, these guys were the only one's near to the Via Ferrata extreme that we were doing. Glad for it though, the lads that were running it were spot on, came out to help us park (parking is a bit squished, but they'll do their best to help everyone get...
