We stayed at this hotel the eight time and definitely this was our last time at the Carlton Beach. The hotel has gone downhill the past years. Our room was a so called “Boutique seafront “ room and was very small. Yet the price very high. We booked the Christmas dinner which turned out to be a disaster. The food was okay but the waiting times between meal courses was unacceptable. We sat under a loudspeaker and the music was very loud and we asked 4 times to turn it down. Who ever planned this event failed miserably.
Pro: + Friendly and helpful staff + 1 minute walk to the beach + 1 minute walk to public transportation + comfortable mattress + Glutenfree bread available upon request (tasty!) + Dogs are allowed (We didn't bring one ourselves, but it was still very nice to see) + I recommend booking a room with a beach view. You will not regret it! + Another recommendation: Book a parking spot by calling the hotel directly (25 euros per day) Con: - Breakfast is way overpriced (20 euros per person) for the provided options. Recommendation for hotel: Add soy milk, chocolate milk and most 'english breakfast' style things such as sausages, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes. - Poor sound isolation in the room. - The bathroom lacks privacy due to the 'saloon' style door. I cannot comment on the Health Center since i didn't go there.…
The Hotel is based on the outskirts of The Hague and is on the beach with easy access to the sea front. Staff are extremely friendly. The hotel rooms are modern and comfortable especially the beds! Breakfast is thoroughly recommended with a fantastic view over the sand dunes.
It was BY FAR the MOST DISASTROUS EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD in my entire life !!!! What was supposed to be a trivial exercise, proved to be A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE !!!! Payed in advanced and in full, by 3 weeks before getting there, not only did they cancel my reservation, but also sold it to somebody else, just because I didn't checkin at the time I initially estimated - WITHOUT ANY PRIOR NOTIFICATION. As I was on a road trip with my wife and daughter, traveling from Berlin, switching 4 times to Eindhoven and then by car to Hague, eventually we ran late. Not only did they simply take 892 eur by snaping fingers, they asked me to buy 2 rooms insteadof just one, LIEING TO ME they no longer have THE ROOM I COULD STILL SEE AVAILABLE ON BOOKING..COM and also threatening me that the reservation using booking.com would also become visible in their system in few hours - WHICH WAS ANOTHER LIE - it became visible 5 minutes later, AAANNNNDDD another receptionist confirmed the room was also ready to checkin. Meanwhile, we tried to have lunch at their restaurant - SURPRISEEEEE - they didn't have any food to serve us, to which they came with the lame excuse they are not used to serve lunch but only breakfast and dinner. ABSOLUTELY BRAIN FREEZING SERVICES AND ATTITUDE !!!!! Ahhh - let's not forget the stains of vomit on the lobby floors and the smell of it ... Gym is dirty - maybe because it is open to people outside the hotel as well - there is ZERO security!!!…
You cannot beat the location of this hotel, right at the beach with nice views. The renovated rooms are quite nice but the bathrooms could use a revamp as well. Sadly the bed is super uncomfortable and I am usually not picky about mattresses. Breakfast is ok, but I think you can find better for less money just around the corner. Service at reception could be a bit friendlier and give more information. For example no one told us we need to reserve a time slot for breakfast.
Fantastic hotel. Fantastic position on the beach, but right next the the dunes at the end of the strip away from the late night bars. The fantastic Patagonia Beach bar is less then 100 meters away. The front of house staff were mainly Dutch very friendly and helpful. Breakfast fast was great. The hotel restaurant was good. The bar staff fantastic. The rooms are great the decor is good. The outside is slightly aged and some of the lights in the sign on top need replaced. We had a fantastic holiday and this should be a five star review, but for one very important thing. The beds are terrible. They are cheap crap memory foam mattress! Horrible hot and sweaty. Don’t offer any back support, I hardly slept all week and after a week I could hardly walk in the mornings. I would highly recommend this hotel if you can cope with rubbish beds.…
Very comfortable and clean room with balcony. Great views of dunes, beach and sea. Breakfast excellent. Cleaning staff very accommodating. Faulty waste plug in bathroom sink never got fixed. Bed was queen size and slept very well. Highly recommended.
A clean, modern and comfortable room. I liked the design and the bathroom. The hotel was situated perfectly for me: at the end of the busy strip, so out of the noise but directly at beach and dunes - and all facilities close by. Because of covid the restaurant was closed. I went out to get my meals, so no opinion about the restaurant. My only struggle was with the room temperature: it kept getting too hot for me (in January). In the end, I just kept the balcony door slightly open, at night as well.
We had a good two days at the hotel with our kids, the kids had little present were they play with and had so much fun. Even the dogs had a little present thank you, we will come back very soon. We had a relax time also the dogs and the kids. Thank you for the special treatment for my girl she enjoyd it. The room was very good and the balcony good for the mornings to smelll the sea :-) Kind regard
We have stayed at this hotel approximately 7 times the past few years and liked it although prices are high compared to similar properties. I recently made a reservation for Christmas and New Year time and room prices are through the roof. I understand that a number of events are taking place during New Year and that a hotel takes advantage of this by raising their room rates. I have to pay about 250 euros per night and another 25 for parking. What really gets me is that I requested a bathrobe for the duration and they will charge me 8,50 euro for the use of it. Shame on you. I canceled my stay yesterday, and my Carlton Beach Hotel days are over.
