There is a lot to love about the Purest Hotel in Sungai Petani starting with the room decor. It reminded me of the style of many small boutique hotels I have stayed at in Northern Italy over the years. Simple stylish and elegant would sum it up. The breakfast spread here again ranks with some of the best I have experienced at any South East Asian Hotel. Catering no for both Western and Asian taste it offers a good selection to both. I ate a very satisfactory lunch in the restaurant on the ground floor on one day, which again was good quality. Vegetables that accompanied the dish were nicely presented on the plate and mercifully al dente, a feat that many hotels worldwide fail. Where it is let down: The marble bathroom floor, whilst stylish, is a virtual deathtrap when wet as it becomes dangerously slippy. This is as mentioned in previous reviews and could be solved with the simple addition of a rubber floor mat. Being a supposed 4 star hotel and given it has a swimming pool I would have expected bathrobes, but there were none. When I enquired I was told they were available at the pool, they were not. When I enquired at reception no one seemed to have a clue as to wheter they had them or not. I was eventually told they did not provide them. This, despite me having seen the same in the housekeeping laundry basket. The pool area is a bit of a mess with stacked chairs here and there and no staff until 4pm. In the meantime it's seems to be used by hotel staff wanting to have a smoke. The pool itself, whilst great, is missing a number of tiles which looks a bit shabby for a 4 star. Note to management, some umbrellas by the sun loungers would be great for shade in the scorching rooftop sunshine. Lastly, I ordered room service on one evening and it was delivered without cutlery or condiments to begin. The food itself, a chicken burger, completely tasteless so a disappointment. As I said to begin with a few well placed tweaks and this Hotel could be wonderful and warrent the claimed 4 stars. Would I stay again and would I recommend it? Absolutely!!

Great hotel and it’s centrally located. It’s nearer to the highway than to the older part sungai petani where the clusters of shops are. Those shops were along the old trunk road slightly away from the NS Highway. Room was comfortable and well maintained. Sky bar well designed, except the red color lanterns which looked like left over of Chinese new year decorations? Some pretty outdoor lights would be much better in my view.
Overall a great stay. Oh breakfast was good at MYR 25 per person.

The variety of the breakfast is bit lacking and hope it can be improving. Overall, my stay is generally pleasant. Is 4 stars hotel. Parking available nearby the hotel. Given 2 breakfast vouchers during check in and rm200 deposit required.

The Purest is a good choice when visiting Sungai Petani. It offers standard hotel amenities for an unbeatable price. The rooms are big and clean and is sufficient to stay for several nights. The service is genuine and friendly. Food during events and in-room dining was good. The breakfast selection could be improved.

Overall a pleasant stay.

Modern and well-equiped hotel with roof top bar and cafeteria. Good quality food, and convenient location. Less than 15 min by taxi to a big mall. Talking to other colleagues, they agreed is the best choice for a stay in Sugai Petani.

7 September 2019 marked the opening of Sky Lounge on level 9, Purest Hotel.

This open air restaurant is very nice. My family and I enjoy the view of Sungai Petani town. Being on level 9 gives us the vantage point of the surrounding area.

Since today was the opening, we were treated to many types of food. On the buffet table there were fried rice, fried vermicelli (beehoon goreng), spaghetti aglio olio, the usual finger foods, fried chicken, fried prawns, many types of cakes etc.

Service : the staff were attentive and friendly to us. They were quick to respond to our request for extra serviette, our orders of juice and coffee. All in all, the staff did a good job.

Ambiance : nice view, good seating arrangement that ensures privacy to the diners.

There is also a swimming pool and this is an attraction of its own.

+ points :
a) free parking and there's ample parking space in the basement and also around the hotel compound.
b) Sky lounge offers good ambiance for private functions
c) Mr Elan, marketing and event manager is a good listener and he listens to customers.

Visited the bar only and it was a great place to chill and drink. The beer on tap was great and combined with great service & atmosphere. Had some bar food and the taste was good as well. Fairly priced beer and food. Worth the visit and would definitely go again when in town.

Everything is really good. The service, the hospitality and the maintenance are really good. The wifi is by far the best. The only downside is the housekeeping. It is done crudely. They should have made sure a more proper job is done.

It was 2nd business trip stay. Choose this hotel because convenient to the work place and near to highway exit. However, it wasn’t a pleasant stay. The linen wasn’t clean enough and the towels were smelly and started to have rashes and couldn’t have hot water from the heater after running the water for almost 20mins throughout the stay. Found some unwanted debris in the bathroom as well as underneath the bed. It took edges to switch on the tv, wi-fi was very slow and couldn’t do office job and have to connect with my own data to access to the internet. The switch plug point near to the bed side wasn’t convenient to use as it was faulty at the switch on and off button as it was too close to the plug in point.
Went to the coffeehouse to have my breakfast. 3staffs were standing at the entrance and busy chatting among themselves until I have to excuse myself to ask them about the sitting arrangement. Breakfast selection wasn’t great. It was a simple selection of foods. While I’m at the buffet counter to have my food; my table has been cleared twice with the cutleries and coffee cups. And there again, I have to get another set of cutleries and coffee for myself. No doubt, it was less than 10tables were occupied but the staffs were not observant neither friendly or courteous to serve neither to assist. Didn’t have much time to check it out with other facilities at the premise.
Overall, those guest’s who are not fussy will not make it as an issue as they come after office hours for rest and continue with some office work.
The management need to look into the cleanliness and services as the room rate wasn’t cheap for the rating of the hotel. As a business traveler, prior booking has been made without any preferences yet the process of check in was slow. Look like the staffs are over stressed up as non of them smile except for the morning staff who attended for checked out. I guess they have new team members on board and still in learning process.
