This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and found the experience to be great again. There are a full range of eateries (including the main market with 84 stalls) within a short walk and the Park gardens were about 3 blocks away. This is suitable for a very peaceful morning stroll and we even saw some Hornbills.
The hotel is above the Taiping Mall so very handy to get some supplies in the Pacific supermarket on the lower level.
The room was a reasonable size, but also had blackout curtains to reduce noise and light. We stayed on the side with Park views which was definitely better than city view as it also looks over the mountains.
Everything was well maintained and clean.
Overall we enjoyed Taiping again - it is a bit faded in places, but that adds to the charm.

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Taiping. Hotel was very clean, bright and tidy. The rooms were a very decent size with comfy beds and also very quiet.

I had a room facing the Lake Gardens and mountains, the view was incredible so try and ask for a mountain facing room when you stay.

Drink prices were a bit expensive in the hotel, as expected. 110RM for 5 small bottles of Tiger beer. The local eateries are a lot cheaper, huge bottle of Tiger beer for 13RM if not less.

We ate out the whole time we were there and only had breakfast on the last morning which was plentiful and a very good variety for all.

Pool was quiet and gym, whilst small had everything you needed.

Big thank you to the staff, they were so polite, friendly and courteous and extremely helpful.

I would absolutely recommend staying here and will defo return next time!

We stay at the Novotel whenever we visit Taiping - which is quite often since it is the resting place of parents, relatives etc. I don't normally comment but just wanna make a big and grateful shout out to the reception team and security for enabling the charging of our BYD Dolphin overnight, which was hugely appreciated. OK, it was a trickle charge - so very slow - but we got sufficient power into the battery to see us back to Kuala Lumpur. Not surprisingly, there are not many charging points in Taiping so this concession by the staff was very welcome. Thank you.

Novotel is supposed to be the best hotel in Taiping and the rooms are nice and clean, but they have by far too many issues and an extremely unprofessional service.
It started when we wanted to make online reservations via their homepage. It was not possible and no one cared.
A positive surprise was Ms. Faridah Razak from the reservation team who was, when I contacted her via email, very friendly, competent and responsive in managing our booking.
Check-in was an unpleasant experience. Our rooms were not ready at 2 pm, which was the confirmed check-in time, and Mr. Ashraf, who claimed to be the Manager (?), could not handle the situation well.
While we waited, we sat at the Gourmet Bar (nothing at all for Gourmets) and they still have the “Happy New Year 2023” place cards as offering at their tables.
Soap dispensers at the toilet were not filled up at 2 pm, still not at 7 pm and also not the next day.
In one of our rooms were no bath towels and we had to wait another 2 hours to get them. Lame excuse was that all towels are in the laundry.
In the evening, we were positively surprised that we could order drinks at the bar, but they are overpriced and poor quality. Even the beer was stale and we tried to order 4 different Mocktails but they could not serve any die to missing ingredients.
Breakfast offer was good, but restaurant was overcrowded and only 1 of 2 coffee machines was working. Even 2 are not enough for the capacity of the restaurant.
I cannot recommend this hotel and the 2 Stars are just for the nice rooms. The service is Zero Stars.

First impressions upon arrival (2:30pm) were ok, lobby was bright and clean, staff friendly. Unfortunately took them over an hour to check us in (3:35pm). Was difficult as we had our toddler with us and there’s nothing else to do but wait it out. The room was just ok as it had a musty smell. Sheets were clean. AC struggled, took a couple hours to cool the room down.

An elevator is under maintenance so the remaining two had to serve countless guests during the Xmas holidays. Be prepared for a wait if your room is located at a higher floor.

Got out of the hotel for some sightseeing at 10/10:30am the next day; and returned to an unkept room at 2:14pm. Housekeeper was on his phone just outside our room (we had stayed in a grand deluxe king room and it’s located at the end of a long corridor) so we requested for a quick cleanup job that was both necessary and unsatisfactory. Our toddler who was asleep prior to us returning to the room woke up as we couldn’t lay her down in bed.

The hotel provides complimentary parking at level 6, as well as sockets for EV charging. Twice my charger was unplugged within 1.5 hours, so I was dumbfounded that they couldn’t identify who did it as they did not have a cctv installed (I was parked and had my vehicle charged right next to the lift lobby). Fahmi and Jega were both apologetic but hey ho.

Not a memorable visit.

My advice to all travelers who plan to stay in this hotel is to ensure that you will be given a room above 9th floor. There are hotel's ballroom and function rooms on the 7th floor. If there is an event on the day and you are staying on the 8th floor, you must prepare to hear the noise all night until they finish. On Jan 10, I could only switch off my lights at 12:30am. I stayed in Room 828; I could hear all the music, singing, MC shouting...
Although the Front Desk staff sent their apologies when I phoned them for help, the Manager was not responding at all when I made a complaint. No reply to my emails via booking platform. No plan to do anything to avoid this such as moving guests to higher floors whenever there are events.

Stayed a night during a transit. Given a room on 13th Floor (highest floor).

Hotel is modern looking and looks like it's almost new. Location is great as its in Town, connected to a shopping mall and within short walking distance to many local eateries and attractions.

Room was a good size for a couple. King sized bed was very comfortable. I love the water pressure from the rain shower. Another nice touch was that there was a USB charging port on each side of the bed. The bedside lamp was pretty cool too.

There is free parking provided for hotel guests. It's on the 6th floor and the designated area is a gated area. To get out the parking ticket has to be validated at the reception before it would work on the gantry.

The only negatives I would list are the amenities that I feel shd b provided for a 4 star hotel. These include shaver for men, hair conditioner and hand towels,

This hotel is located in the city center of Taiping and happens to be the only building of this height. It's also the only building that's that high there. Directly located above a shopping center, this modern hotel has its parking lot on the 6th floor, so you must keep your ticket to be able to exit (it is free for customers).

The room is large and spacious with a large king size bed, we slept well. Located on the 13th floor, our room overlooked the park and the city and a large bay window therefore allowed us to overlook the entire city (even though we had requested a view of the park and the mountains). There is a gym and a swimming pool (open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and all the comforts worthy of a novotel. The breakfast, in buffet style, is very generous and well stocked. You can find everything there and Malaysian specialties.

The staff are friendly and welcoming. Excellent value for money, we paid around €65 per night for a superior room with breakfast.

I booked 2 room (11/4-12/4) and this the services and attitude given by the staff.

1) The front receptionist staff services and attitude is so bad and un professional.
2) When asked for additional towel, the receptionist send me one dirty towel with foot stains on it. When informed then not even apologised for it.
3) When asked for additional bottle they said not only one bottle allow, need wait until finish the 2 bottle given only then allow to give additional.
4) The room card was blocked 10min before enter to the room, worst not even informed during the checkin time. Even a 2 star hotel also asked during checkin when would like to checked out. When asked for explanation the receptionist n the Asst Manger “Ms Aida” showed me an angry face and not even to plan to explain, she just stand beside the counter and shown the angry to customer. I guess this is the service level training given by the Novotel higher level management “show an angry face to their customer”.
5) When asked for the duty manager the receptionist just revert not in on leave.
6) The lift services, from 3 lift down to 2 lift during peak session.

This hotel is the worst hotel I ever stayed.

Sadly Taiping does not seem to be blessed with a wealth of good hotels, this is the best that we've experienced so far and now won't stay anywhere else when visiting Taiping.

The location is convenient for most things in Taiping. The whole hotel is clean and better maintained than others in the area.

Check-in on the first visit was faultless, this time we arrived after checkin time and were asked to take a seat for 5 minutes along with the 3 other rooms that had arrived. It was nearly 25 minutes before we were seen. It did seem that a shift change on the front desk led to a complete change in efficiency. The bell hop was particularly effective.

This hotel only gives Malay as a spoken language, it should say that the majority of the staff speak good English.

The rooms are clean and reasonably well maintained. It is worth paying for the Deluxe room in order to get a view over the lake gardens rather than the town. Also worth noting that interconnecting rooms are apparently not available in the standard rooms.

The co-located mall is very convenient with a supermarket and some restaurants although sadly many stores have become empty during the pandemic.

The room rates are a little on the high side but the high occupancy rates suggest that they are justified. A night here will cost more than a night in the Doubletree in KL but then there is a lot more competition there.

The internet connection was reasonable, not fast by MY standards but fast enough to watch Netflix or make video calls at standard definition.

The breakfast is plentiful and comprehensive with most tastes catered for. As you should expect, the breakfast is halal so no pork products are served.
