Torres del Paine is an amazing national park however it is not well run so you will have to accept long queues and unhelpful staff. Here are a few tips to help you avoid some of the unpleasantness we had to endure. If there are at least 3 of you rent a car to take you to the park it...

Stayed one night before starting the W trek. The Refugio is quite big, the rooms are ok and clean. Showers/bathrooms are clean and big. The staff at the front desk was nice and friendly. Loved the welcome drink. The breakfast was ok, eggs, bread and cheese, juice and tea/coffee. Dinner was soup-main meal-dessert. Soup was not good at all pumpkin soup,...

I stayed in the camp site next to this Refugio for 2 nights, we were a group of 17 military so are used to things being tough. However, to say the refugio was disorganised chaos would be compliment. We had booked an evening meal for our last night, but had to change by one day, which was difficult at best,...

I had two nights of accommodation at the smaller refugio called Torre Norte which is just behind the Torre Central building. Torre Central is where they have their kitchen, restaurant, and main facility, and is larger than Torre Norte, I was happy though to have my room in Torre Norte since it is smaller, cozier, and less crowded and noisy,...

I'm not sure of the value of doing a review of our accommodations along The W, since unless you are camping, you really don't have many options. The monopolistic nature of the refugios does seem to contribute to some of the surly staff comments found in other reviews. But, you have to recognize why you are there, how these refugios...

Initially we were to stay in the hotel next door but this was already closed due to winter shutdown. There wee only multi-bedrooms like in a youth hostel, which was not the problem, but the personnel was so very much unfriendly, not even willing to hand over a key for the rooms (where we had all our photo equipment), they...

First off, we visited Torre Central at the very end of the season (April 2016) which is important for context. It was our first stop on the W trek and in general was a very pleasant stay. The home office had misrecorded our visit one day later than we had booked which led to some early confusion but the staff...

The Refugio's were great, better than I had expected, the accommodation and bathrooms were good and the meals and packed lunches fine. We had taken sleeping bags but never needed them as the 3 we stayed in all either supplied sheets or sleeping bags, I would suggest a sleeping bag liner. Even if you are not staying in the Refugio's...

Stayed two nights, food excellent, rooms nice & beds comfy. This is also a really warm comfortable lodge and a great base to explore the walks to the Torres. Only downside was male reception staff are insolent & seemed to resent serving guests.

The Refugio has a nice location with a great view of the Torres. The bunk beds we slept in were very comfortable and the showers were nice and hot and surprisingly clean. After reading a lot of negative reviews on here about the refugios being very dirty I was a bit anxious but the bathrooms were absolutely fine. The food...
