We found that all traders, restaurants, small shop across from hotel took Sterling or Euros. So Sterling was best for us, as there was no loss in exchange to Euros. Taxis, dolmus/ bus and small cafes or McDonalds was only Lira.
Better exchange rate for sterling down the street than airport, so we only exchanged £20 at airport, in case needed water or a drink on bus then some £'s at exchange shop in resort. Never used Euros.
Lira dropped wildly over weekend. was about 16p per lira 2 weeks ago, (TL 6.2 to the pound then, today its over 8.3 so about a third more).
