We were here for a large function, tea/coffee and sandwiches, sausage rolls, a cake, standard Scottish purvey. The staff were pleasant and efficient, coped well with the unexpectedly large turnout (it was a funeral). Sausage rolls - fine, hot, cakes - a good if lumpen selection. But the sandwiches!! British rail would have been proud. Very dried-up, thick 'doorsteps'. I...

Recently attended a function here. Upon arrival the function suite was not ready to accept guests at the notified time, we were directed by staff to the bar to have a drink and wait. In the 2 areas of the bar, all the tables were set for diners, including one rather large table decorated for a birthday party. We moved...

I very recently attended a function here. The hotel is an attractive old building set in a nice location but the quality of food served at the function was unbelievably poor. I realise its not possible to serve 80 people the same quality as restaurant food but this didn't come anywhere near close. The starter was 'house pate' but there...

Where to begin? At the beginning of course. We had a family home flood at Christmas time and the upshot was we had to move out to allow massive repair work to take place. We moved in to the Cartland Bridge in early January and have got nothing but praise for all the staff. Alan Kim Elaina Steven Thomas and...

Went for a meal today. Spoke to receptionist who suggested we sat in conservatory. We sat and sat and sat...no one came to ask if we wanted menus or drinks ...Very poor service indeed.Tables around us hadn't been cleared either. We made the decision to go elsewhere so we left and won't be back . Appalling service from a local...

The location of this hotel should be an area of outstanding beauty, I attended a wedding here in April and I was in a "small" double room which was very comfortable and had everything you would expect in a larger hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and nothing was too much bother for them, the food was excellent....

This is a really good example of a three star hotel, the building and setting are great sights when you pull into the drive, it has a beautiful grand staircase up to the rooms with very friendly staff, the food is good and the rooms are always clean and tidy. Stopped in this hotel around 6 times and always been...

My bridesmaid, her daughter and I went for lunch on Saturday 31st January to look at the facilities, sample the food and discuss my forthcoming wedding with Alan Todd, the manager. The food was really nice and the service excellent. Alan was wonderful, understanding and so helpful. Even though mine will be a very small wedding, he made me feel...

We happened upon this hotel by chance on a drive near town and it was such a nice older hotel in a lovely quiet farming area . Staff were friendly and the dinner was very nice in the bar area. We stayed in a large comfortable room and the breakfast next morning was very good.
