I want to thanks Mr de Valbray and his wife for the wonderful atmosphere created at the castle. It was a very intersting holliday, you can enjoy the peaceful countryside life in a special location full of history.

Beautiful grounds and many amenities for families to enjoy. Our room was in the Orangerie and it had great ugh there is internet it was quite weak where we were lodged. Since this is a hosted house and not a full fledged hotel, the meal serve is what the family eats. They were most accommodating to give me rice and... More

This property reminded us of the style of the Palace of Versailles. It is set in a gorgeous meadow/woods combination and is a true picture of what life must have been like for the aristocracy in a bygone time in France. The furnishings are original - each room being different from the adjacent room. Our bedroom in the Orangerie was... More

Come to this hotel if you are looking to experience life on a French country estate. Everything about this chateau is authentic, including the owner, Count François de Valbray. We enjoyed the grounds, the furnishings and the pool, but what made our visit the most special was having cocktails with François on the lawn at sunset, and hearing tales of... More

Hard to believe that places like this chateau still exist-- and that the Count who owns it is your host! It's beautifully built and impeccably maintained. The grounds are stunning, and each room is appointed with lovely furnishings that made us feel like aristocrats. Breakfast was excellent, and the chateau has the softest, most luxurious linens imaginable. Overall, a wonderful... More

We stayed one night on our way South and deliberately arrived early in order to relax by the pool for a few hours before tackling the AutoRoute madness. The atmosphere is definitely country house rather than metropolitan hotel and all the more enjoyable because of it,. The owner Francois makes his guests very welcome and after introductions over cocktails we... More

Charming chateau. Grounds are beautiful but hotel is in the middle of no where and you need a car if staying here. I think this is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel. No room service, no fridge in the room, no bottled water. Property is a bit run down and needs some work to be called a... More

My wife and I had a lovely stay for one night at this lovely chateau! We were also very fortunate to receive a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was truly delightful. We also made use of the table d'hôte, which was reasonable. We were a bit disappointed with the main dish which consisted of mashed potatoes and some stew.... More

Chateau des Briottieres is a fabulous and very different place to stay. An impressive chateau, owned by the same family for the last two hundred years, and still furnished with all the family heirlooms. Francois and his wife are the perfect hosts where you are treated as their personal guests rather than hotel clients. If you value genuine quality, a... More
