I stayed in Swiss Cottage couple of months ago. I still smile when I remember the place. Stayed there for 5 days and I got just the holidays I was looking for.

The hotel stuff is more then friendly. You have feeling that you are visiting some friends house. Totally relaxed and chilled out. Felt like at home. Literally. It is not a place for people looking for luxury, but a place for people looking to relax. I relaxed my soul and mind.

You are basically located on the beach. Couple of meters more and you would be in the sea. Within the place there is scuba diving school (Tioman Diving Center) that I totally recommend. I did my diving course there and I was more than happy. People are nice and friendly. Couldn't be better.

We stayed at the Swiss Cottage this August for 2 nights and really could not fault the place. For 85ringgit, or 17GBP a night we were given an enormous room, a big and comfortable double bed, decent linen and a good mosquito net. The rooms are basic, but I think that is the point with a beach hut! The shower room was small but newly decorated and had an electric shower with hot water. Best of all, each hut has a large balcony, with comfortable chairs, perfect for a sun-down drink.

The highlight of the place is its location, nestled right on the most beautiful beach, you can see the sea from most of the shacks, and it is a 30m walk from your front door. The staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. We had a snorkelling trip around a nearby island organised at reception for 25Ringgit per person with a speedboat which collected us right off the beach and stayed with us for the entire 2 hour trip. The staff knew the island and recommended bars and restaurants which all lived up to their billing.

In the end, we spent 180Ringgit for 2 nights accommodation, with a basic breakfast and some drinks from the fridge. That's less than 10GBP per person per night and the place is beautiful, I don't think it could be any better value.

Wow ! We just got back from Tioman and after going to all four of the major beaches, Salang, Air Batang, Juara and Tekek we found that Swiss Cottage was by far the best resort we stayed at. We only wish we could have stayed longer. It was very difficult to leave in the end :(

I dont normally write reviews, but in this case I felt it was my duty to report on what a wonderful time we had.The very best thing about this place is undoubtedly the location, situated at the far end of Tekek Village you have a huge stretch of undeveloped beach all to yourself. The resort itself is surrounded by huge trees and has a nice rustic feel to it.

We stayed in one of the longhouse rooms and it was clean, tastefully decorated with a nice modern bathroom and I have to say in this price range it is very good value for money. The highlight for us was the snorkeling which we did almost everyday. The reef is right off the beach and early morning snorkeling was definitely the best. We saw turtles and small reef sharks very exciting. Swiss Cottage rent out snorkeling equipment but next time we will bring our own, not because the equipment wasnt good enough but because we used it every day and ended up adding an extra 180 ringit on to our bill, but for 2 of us over six days the price was reasonable. We did a trip out to Coral Island on one of the days with our boatman Wasabi, what a guy ! We did some dives as well, but I have to say from an experienced divers perspective they were average.

Overall I can not recommend this place enough if you are looking for a quite chilled out place to relax. It is definitely not a luxury resort where you can come and be pampered. The staff are friendly and helpful but its not a luxury resort where you get plush towels, a buffet breakfast and all the things you would expect from a luxury resort, instead it has something much better, character and charm! and for what you pay its a bargain.

Swiss Cottage is really nice cottage style of chalet with very clean rooms. I have stayed there more then 3 times and I'm making another trip end of this month to celebrate my birthday. The bathroom is clean and well maintain. Keep it up guys.
Suggestion: Please provide pickup service for guest. A bike will do. :)

It's not the first time we stay at Swiss cottage, still a lovely place to stay but they definitely should upgrade their bed frames which are a killer for toes, tripping as well as their mosquito nets which are too small for the beds. Asked if I would recommend it ? I think I would say it's time to shop around as I have not seen any improvements done over the years.... What will it look like in 10 years if it still stands.......

We've been back to Swiss Cottage 4 times now & we've never before been people to go to the same place more than once. Most people there are travelling around south east Asia and when you ask them about other places they say good things but most say Tioman is better. Swiss Cottage is great, the cabins are fairly simple but they are clean and comfy. The people on reception are friendly and knowledgable. The communal breakfast space gives the place a feel of community where you are able to pick up bits of info or advice from fellow travellers. And the beach is stunning. swim out 2 minutes and you hit the reef. Wow!

We stayed in sea view chalet A4 for 6 nights. It was really awesome to sleep with the sound of waves in the background and to swing in the hammock on a terrace, sipping Chile vine from the duty free shop, located in 3 minutes from the hotel.

We didn't use the mosquito net, it was hot to sleep under it. But we've seen only one mosquito during our stay. It was hazy during our stay, so fan was anough to make sleep comfortable. I'm not sure, if it is not too hot at night, when the sun shines at its full potential.

Room is basic (as promised), but the bed is comfortable.
Sea view terrace with a hammok, table and chair is great.

Be careful swimming from the beach, especially during the low tide: beware sea-urchins and corals. Coral shoes will be useful.

Breakfast is not too big, but tasty and big anough to go for a dive or too and survive until lunch :) Toasts, porridge, omlette, local pancakes.
For lunch we usually eat something in hotel's cafe. Very pleasant "normal" food, especially if you have some problems with malaysian local cuisine (we've had one before, and were suspicious of it).

There are some restaurants in the near. We prefered Sarang Seafood Village. They did grilled fish with the pepper quantity I like))

The staff is very friendly, helpful and with good English. Thank you for all!
Cats are cute and not impudent.

I'd recomment to take a jungle tour at reception. Our guide was very nice, with good English. He really loves the jungle and tells many interesting things. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name =( During the tour he will show you "his chameleon willage". Cameleons are cute and allow the guide to put them on your head (if you want, naturally).

The Internet at the reception isn't stable (but as far as I understand, it is on the whole island like this).

The cottage's location is fine. About 10-15 minutes walk from the jetty, 2-3 from duty-free and nearest restaurans. It is locates at the end of Tekek village, the place is quite and clear.

If I'd go to Tioman one more time, I'd stay there again.

Stayed here for 5 nights with my partner in July 2014.
It is a family run business and manager is the daughter of the owner. She was delightful and very friendly.

The huts and bungalows are very clean and comfortable. We stayed in a room with AC which was very welcomed as it was hot season.

Our aim for this trip was to complete our Advanced Open Water license and right next (to our room in fact) was a diving school. Couldn't of been easier.

Although we went in Ramadan where food is scarce and businesses are very quiet - it was a peaceful relaxing trip and it was all thanks to this little gem. I highly recommend it.

Note sand flies and mosquitoes are everywhere - bring good spray and keep the aircon running at night, as I noticed that kept them from biting me.

We were very lucky to get the sea view chalet and it was great value for money. There is also a diving booth there so if you wanted to go diving, it is so convenient. There is a seafood restaurant if you walk out a little. To have a nice drink at a bar or just to chill out with other travellers, you could get a taxi (by asking somebody from the restaurant) to get you to a small little bar called A Peace Place or Sunset Bar. Make sure the taxi driver can drive you home as it would be too far to walk back from these bars mentioned! Overall, it was a great stay.
