Detailed Reviews
Just came back from a 3 nights stay there. It is perfect for families. Considering we are a really huge family, we took on 2 two-bedroom apartments. Apartments were fixed for 3 persons -- a queen size bed in the master room and super single bed in the smaller room. There is one bathroom with shower, toilet and wash basin. The bathroom is accesible both from the kitchenette and the master bedroom. Towels and soap are provided. No toothbrushes nor shaving kits though. The hot water showere worked fine. Plumbing and water pressure is reasonable.
There are no eating facilities in the condotel, so the microwave, kettle and fridge in the kitchenette really served its purpose. There is a also a chopping board, a knife and a can and cork opener (though the can opener bit was a little spoilt for my room - but I guess, you can always ask the staff to get you a better one). We bought our supplies at the Impian market down the road at Tekek village. Prices there are much cheaper than the small minimart at the condotel. Price for a 1 kg pack of rice at condotel minimart is RM5 while at the Impian minimart is RM1. Bought a lot of canned food and fruits - and that served our meals for the 3 days -- for the last nite, we splurged on a seafood bbq dinner over at Warong Syahirah at Tekek village (cost for dinner for 7 of us was RM278 -- but we did have the works -BBQ squid and fish, sweet sour pomfret and jerudong, kangkong blachan, sambal prawns, black pepper chicken, seafood tomyum, asam pedas stingray). I understand that you can order breakfast at the condotel and they will bring it up to your room - but we usually travel with milk and cereal - so we didn't try the breakfast.
The swimming pool was large and most of the time unused. Nice rectangular pool with a kids wading pool at the side. Could swim lapses uninterrupted most of the time.
Our apartments were ground level -- meaning level 3 of the B block. Both apartments faced the South China Sea. Magnificent.
Booking was made through AGODA -- was unhappy that I had to pay upfront online -- but the rates were so cheap, I did not complain. Check in was a breeze. The staff were easy-going and answered our questions adequately. So peeps who are complaining here about bank transfers, etc -- a wise move in future would be to go through either Booking.com or AGODA.
The shuttle from the condotel to Berjaya resorts is every hour at 15 mins past the hour -- 12.15; 1.15; 2.15....etc. And from Berjaya resorts to condotel, the shuttle bus is every hour on the hour -- noon, 1pm, 2 pm. The last bus leaves Berjaya to the condotel at 11 pm. If you want to go to Tekek village, you can hire a cab from the condotel. For an MPV that could take all 7 of us in, we paid RM30 for a to-and-fro trip. We arranged for the driver to pick us up at a certain spot at a specific time. Both times we hired the car, the driver was on time.
There are no beaches near the condotel -- the nearest beach is Benot beach which is a 10 minute trek from the condotel. But the trek is worth it. Benot beach is a secluded bay. There is a turtle sanctuary. When we were there -- there was about nine markers within the wired fence -- nine nests. Most of the time we were at the beach, we spotted only about 5 groups. The only down side is the monkeys. So, do not bring food with you. They are particularly attracted to red or pink pvc bags as these are usually used to carry food. Do not hang your bags on the low branches of the trees, as trees are their territory, so anything you hang there is theirs and they will fight you if you try to take it back. But in all, if you mind your own business, do not eat in front of them, do not offer them any food, they leave you to your business of lazing around in the wonderful warm and clear waters of this very secluded beach. There is not much coral in these waters -- for those, the waters off Salang may be a better bet.
One important thing to note: the Berjaya shuttle that picks up passengers from the ferry jetty should note that the shuttle does so only when there is a ferry drop off. It is not a regular shuttle that comes at regular times. So, do not have a meal at the shops opposite the ferry jetty once you get off the ferry. Take the waiting shuttle first, and check into your hotel or apartment - after that then go look for food.

We stayed smack in the monsoon season, December 2012 after finding this place on Agoda. I must add, that I will not use Agoda again, as they charged me the whole cost of the stay rather than a booking fee or the first day etc. I much prefer Booking.com who are much more transparent about their charges.Another gripe is that we rushed to Tanjung gemuk jetty for the supposed last 4pm ferry to Tioman. Informed by staff there that the jetty had been closed since 1 Dec!!! This despite trying all numbers to contact said place. Better off trying to call a local tour operator and checking with them on ferry availability and times, and they will surely pick up the phone.
The one and only ferry leaves from Mersing at 9am everyday, which meant a one day overnight stay at Riverside Budget hotel, which wasn't too bad.
The property is run down somewhat with very few staff taking care of the place, but with these prices ie RM485 for 3nights for a large 2bedroom condotel with a kitchenette, one can't really complain. The place is owned by Johor Corp, and managed by Berjaya, hence the hourly shuttle between the two places, which becomes a lifeline after the first day.
Pros:
- The seclusion and privacy makes it great for couples n honeymooners
- Private beach just 15minutes away, and the great shuttle service plying the two resorts, which comes upon your calling rather than hourly. Great service.
- Usage of Berjaya tioman facilities is a bonus so we did just that with the pool, gym, beach, games room etc
- Apartment had all mod cons like fridge, toaster, rice cooker, kettle and hot water (yay!). The thing that makes it a great place in my book for all hotels etc are the beds and pillows, which this place had with firm mattresses and substantial pillows. Made for a great night's sleep.
- The pool is good, but didn't have the chance, as we were using Berjaya's mostly.
-There is a good cafe just outside the main Berjaya gates which is pricier, but tastier than some of the fare at Tekek village. Most times, we got takeways, and re-heated at the apartment.
Cons:
- The isolation can get to you, while there is a small store at the resort, do ensure that you have packed food items including coffee, tea etc. Tekek village has supplies, but obviously pricier. However, discovered the staff quarters of Berjaya just outside the main gates, had two cafes and a convenience store which stocks most items cheaper than Tekek village
- The monkeys are cute, but when trying to get into your apartment, maybe not. So be ware, and keep all doors and windows closed.
Overall, it's great for a short or long trip, whichever you prefer, and has the mod cons you would expect from a 3 star hotel.

What I liked about this apartment was that it's located up on the hillside & away from the hustle & bustle of the town & motorists. You need to make prior arrangement with the hotel staff to arrange for a pick up upon your arrival at the jetty to the hotel & make sure you get their telephone number so that you can call them upon your arrival. Stayed 3 nights in a 2 bedroom & 1 bathroom unit. Though it's a bit dated, it's cozy, clean & quite spacious with a living & dining area, a kitchenette equipped with microwave (no stove top cooker), rice cooker, bread toaster, kettle, fridge, basic utensils such as plates, bowls, cups, forks & spoons so it's a plus point for us to be able to do a little bit of cooking. All the electrical appliances work fine except initially we have some problems with the water heater in the bathroom which didn't function properly. Complimentary tea, coffee, creamer, sugar & a bottle of 1.5 litre drinking water was given everyday. Amazing & spectacular view of the sea & beach from the living hall balcony & windows. Breakfast was included in the room rate throughout our stay with a choice of english breakfast or nasi lemak. Preferred the latter as it was good. No proper restaurant or dining area so we have to sit either at the reception lobby area or at the poolside. Reception were manned by two staffs & a manager who were very polite, friendly & attended to our needs promptly. Wifi is only available at the front reception area. No channels available to watch on TV except if you borrow a pen drive from the reception to insert into the tv usb port, you can watch the movies uploaded in their pen drives. Not a crowded hotel which is a plus point for us with peaceful surroundings & we like it this way. Pool was large, good & clean. There is a so called 'mini market' with limited choices of goods sold, mostly drinks, snacks & basic essential items for cooking. Complimentary use of the snorkeling masks from the reception which is another plus point. Monkeys are everywhere so do keep all your windows & doors closed at all times & not to bring along any valuable items in your bags to the beach lest the monkeys steal your bags. Monkeys were seen hanging around our balcony area at certain times of the day but we didn't mind as it added to the feel of closeness to nature. In fact when we were at the beach, a monkey was roaming among the trees at the beach spying on us & it actually stole a cigarette box left on the beach mat by another family! Most probably it thought there was food inside. However the monkeys didn't harm any of us. Enjoyed the 5-10 minutes walking trail to the beach with another group of family where we practically have the whole beach & crystal clear waters to ourselves to snorkel without having the need to pay for a boat ride to go to the smaller islands nearby to snorkel but of course it would be a different experience altogether. Beach was clean except that during the walking trail to the beach, you may find some garbage among the bushes trees thrown by irresponsible beach goers. Free shuttle bus from lobby area to Berjaya Resort further down or to the town area & jetty. Prices of food in the hotel is reasonably priced but with limited choices. For better choices of food with reasonable prices, take the free shuttle bus & drop of at Berjaya Resort security guard house. There is a Malay owned restaurant and a Chinese owned restaurant just outside the guard area. If you don't mind spending more, you can opt to dine at the Berjaya Resort restaurant for a more comfortable dining experience & take a stroll along the beach. If you wish to see more, take the shuttle bus to the town area where there is a duty free shop etc...

Staff and service were great. Breakfast was acceptable for the price that we paid. Lots of noises in the night from air-con. The hotel was close to empty when we got there and it is very quiet. It is quite a distance from the jetty and isolated from everywhere else. You either need to rent a motorcycle, a bicycle or walk. By motorcycle is it takes about close to 10 minutes so a walk would take much much longer. Not to mention it does not have WIFI other than at the reception area. Also there were a lot of paranormal activities going on when we were there so go at own risk.

Place is okay but not as good as they are describing on the website. On their website, they say it is a minute walk from the beach which is a lie. One has to walk 12 to 15 minutes to reach the beach and it's not a straight walk. The path is made of uneven stones with slopes therefore hard for the elderly.
We had problems with breakfast as they ran out of hot chocolate on the first day. On the second day they ran out of tea. The staff were friendly but clearly have not been trained. They all had to come two to three times to take our order and yet they will bring the wrong things. We had to wait a long time to get our toast and even then the butter would come 5 minutes later. They would bring our coffee but the milk and sugar would come after 10 minutes. The first two days they had NO milk so they gave us Condense milk, so if you're diabetic then black coffee is the only option for you. Breakfast was bad but we had no choice as the only package they offer is with breakfast.
When I complained to the manager of the bad breakfast, his response was "you are more than welcome to leave a bad review on the website" but he didn't do anything about it. They clearly don't know the meaning of a continental breakfast as there were NO fruits, NO juices, NO baked beans and on top of that they only tell you they don't have these items 20 minutes after taking your order.
One morning we met another guest of the hotel while having breakfast. She ordered cornflakes, looked at us and said it's easier this way so they don't get confused. It's ridiculous that she paid for breakfast but still has to compromise just because the staff and management are incapable of delivering on what was said they would.
I am going on about breakfast but you expect a decent breakfast when you pay for it just as you would when you go in any restaurant.
In the room half of the light bulbs were not working and they had no spare bulbs. Our room's bathroom sink tap was not working even though I informed them on the first day of my 6 day trip it was not fixed at any point.
Shocking among all the things is their food price. We ordered taugeh (bean sprout) and broccoli as vegetables dishes, thinking it cannot be more then 10 to 13 ringgit as their side dishes were average that price. BUT they charged us 20 RINGGIT each and rice price was separate. We also ordered fish and chips; we were told our dinner was going to be ready by 7:30 pm. We received all our vegetables and rice by 8:30 pm. NO sign of our fish n chips. At 8:45 pm we went to inquire about it and they said it would be 10 more minutes. At 9 o'clock, the staff knocked on our door saying there is NO FISH N CHIPS. We were shocked! Surely you would know there was no fish and chips in the kitchen at the time of ordering - baring in mind we ordered our meal at 5:30 pm. We the ended up ordering another dish and ate at 9:30 pm. Exactly 2 hours after we were supposed to eat. The next day when I mentioned it to the manager, he said put it on the review.
Oh my god....... Again when I raised a concern about the 20 ringgit bean sprouts to the second manager who came on the 4th day of our stay he gave an excuse that it's expensive in the warehouse. Dear readers, if you go to Berjaya resort five star hotel, where free shuttle runs every hour from Selesa apartment, you can get a complete meal for 20 RINGGIT complete with rice, vegetables and a salad. Selesa apartment doesn't even have a proper dining area. We had our breakfast in the reception area where they have a low down table and a few sofas. They have an outside seating area (very dirty tables) under the trees, where we sat on the last day. It was so windy and were given paper plates and paper cups. It was so windy, we had to hold our plates and cups as we attempted to eat. They served watermelon on the last 2 days of our stay. The wind was so strong that it knocked our coffee out of our hands and it spilled everywhere. It was a disaster. It was under the trees so all the bits from the trees were falling in our food. In the end some of us decided to sit inside in the reception area.
Despite so many suggestions on reviews for improvement they have not improved. Despite I made a point then and then to tell them what we are not happy about both managers were not bothered and always had lot of silly excuses which felt like they were thinking we were fools.
Vegetarian option is available on their website but they always made a point to tell us every time we order "we will do you a favor and do it specially for you."
There was NO GOOD WILL GESTURE for any of the bad service. In fact I felt like they charged me more for the vegetables (bean sprout, broccoli) just to get back at me for raising so many of their bad points. The first manager kept saying, "I understand what you are saying, please feel free to write a review about it." In reality, he sounded like he didn't care. On the last two days he wouldn't even speak to us or look at us. So in short, we didn't complain about the paper plates and cups flying in the wind. But come on isn't it common sense to serve food on proper plates on a windy day???????? CONCLUSION - BOTH MANAGERS DID NOT CARE. Why hire them?
Also, they say they have WIFI and TV connection in all of the rooms. LIE!!!!! The only TV that worked was in the reception area. the only place the WIFI worked was in reception as well and even then it barely worked!! We came to realise the WIFI only worked when you were the only one in reception using it. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!
Lastly, if you are not fussy about travelling 15 minutes every meal time and every time to go to beach then this place is okay. Although after our experience I fully would NOT recommend this place to stay for anyone!!!!!

The hotel is really far and to get there also a trouble. So many trouble to just get there so better to stay somewhere else. I remember when we arrive here that I lost my vacation mood just by how far this place, how empty it is and how scary this hotel look like. The hotel is really big but I believe that not all room are occupy for guest because some level are not even maintenance well and not even service just by looking at room with veranda below us. So many trash. Make me believe that this is haunted hotel. The room was fine, I think for family its good. Just need more maintenance here and there. We book the room online for 3 people and it state that breakfast is included. But upon breakfast, to our surprise the front desk say that breakfast is only for two. Like what? Then why its state breakfast including? We take room for 3 person and breakfast included but suddenly it just for two? I'm hotelier myself and I need to say this that, that was soooooo stupid! Breakfast just american style set. The breakfast is below average. And we need to eat at lobby because there is no restaurant or coffee house. The front desk really unfriendly and insist us to pay so we pay. But we get the refund by the online booking agent. To whoever incharge, if you guys want to make the breakfast for two only, even the room is for three, please state it! It stupid to assume that your guest is stupid. So, not gonna stay here again.

Stayed at 'Selesa Condotel, Berjaya resort' - Super location, ample of facilities available within the Berjaya resort, all possible places to do/see in/nearby resort - resturants, game parlour, outdoor booking desk, water recreation/dive center. Very good buffet (cost - littl on higher side), for vegetarians - a seperate Thai and indian resturant (serves on dinner) with good choices and economical food. the tourist tour guide is friendly and offers good packages and suggest the best and must to see if going for the first time... pool side is beautiful overlooking south china sea... best snorkelling till date with beautiful corals and colourful fishes (you feel like you are inside an aquarium ! ).. relaxing place...
On Flip side - as the open area is vast need to wait for shuttle buses (freq is 1 hr) from condotel to any place in resort.. need to pay for all games seperately though the resort boasts of it as part of facilities.. breakfast not economical if not covered in stay fare..

+1
After working without having a real break and with some extra cash in my bank account, I 've decided to bring 7 of my family members for holiday and this will be my first time holiday with my in laws.My dream of this holiday is just to enjoy the beautiful beaches in Tioman and just to spend time in thier coffee house, enjoy the luxury of breakfast, lunch and dinner.I want to enjoy the luxury of food.I withdraw lots of cash and i'm prepared to pay the bills.
Look through the write up and after browsing through the hotels available in Tioman,I decided to accept Selesa Tioman Condotel offerings. The booking of the condotel and purchasing ferry tickets was smooth and everything was smooth and all bookings was done with Selesa Condotel's personal. In fact my ferry ticket was courier to me after 4 days the purchasing on line.
I checked in on the 8th of July and my checked out date is on the 11th July 2016.After the long wait and journey from Mersing to Tioman on the 8th of July,I finally arrived Selesa Tioman Condotel. It was 4:25pm when we arrived and we are hungry. After paying the balance of my room reservation and received my room keys,I immediately asked the receptionist where is your coffee house as we were hungry and the answer is"Sir,I'm sorry..we don't have a coffee house here"I almost fainted...my 2 months dream.I was also informed that the kitchen only cooks for breakfast and dinner.I was told by the reception that we can always take a shuttle which is available every 1 hour down to Berjaya resort or go down to town as they serve good local food there. After the long journey,I don't think so and further more having my 2 in laws who are in their 60's it's almost impossible to travel down again just to get dinner. We decided to wait till 7:30pm for the kitchen to open. There's no buffets but only ala carte, and the choices are limited.
In the room or apartment, i must compliment that it was clean.Fresh towels displayed, kitchen with coffee tea and sugar creamer sachet was well arranged.Bathroom was good and clean.Good hot powerful water flow from the shower spout.Hall was clean and furnitures in the hall was new and neatly arranged. The view was just superb as our apartment was facing the open South China Sea.It wsd sn awesome view.Fresh clean bedsheets and lots of pillow given.
However, during our 3 night and 4 days stay in this Selesa Condotel,we experienced 4 blackout due to the poor maintenance by local electric power supply board(TNB).We feel the hotel management should consider of having their own power generators for the convenient of hotel guest.
As the condotel do not have an active catering, the hotel guest have to depend on the shuttle for their food intake.Even though the condotel provide transport down to Berjaya lobby and coffee house but a person like me and my family which we prefer to enjoy the in house catering,I felt it's quite inconvenience to take transport down just to get some simple food.My idea of holiday is to get some pampering service provided by the hotelier.
I must compliment Selesa Condotel Tioman hotel staff for being sensitive to hotel guest need.Every request was quickly attended. The receptionist En.Saiful was one of the most hardworking staff. He does everything from guest check in,sending food tray to guest room, serve food in the open terrace by the swimming pool attend power failure call by hotrl guest.Cleans table. My compliment to him for being one of the most dedicated staff.
Our stay is included with breakfast but during our 3 night 4 days stay,we have not experience any buffet breskfast. The morning breakfast served are ala carte and there's only 2 choices given,it's either Nasi Lemak(Malaysian local coconut rice)or Pratha, and drinks limited to only 2 choices which is coffee or tea.Again..my dream of holiday..you can guess.
Our access to the beaches in front of the hotel was denied due to security reason. As there are many wild monkeys in the vicinity of the hotel, guest are advice to shut their doors and main sliding door all the time.
Overall the surrounding is peaceful, comfortable and clean with good hard working helpful staff, they should provide caterings for hotel guest...and do something about the blackouts.

Me and my other half stayed here after 3 weeks of none stop travel. It was perfect for doing absolutely nothing. It is so quiet, you have to take a shuttle from the hotel to get down to the village. But the shuttle runs every hour so it's very handy! The pool is great, rooms are fine, the only downfall would be the food at the hotel, it was grim! However I would highly recommend this place for a few nights.

We were under the 3D2N full package which included 2 breakfast, 2 lunch and 2 dinner, snorkelling trip and free transport service to and from the hotel upon arrival and departure. It happened that the hotel wasn't crowded by the time we were here. The hospitable concierge arranged us into a two-room apartment with the best sea view from its balcony, although we were only 2 persons in total. The unit was clean, it even came with a small kitchen where we could find the fridge, microwave oven and kettle. There was a great, reasonable size swimming pool in the hotel. Upon request, they can extend the pool hours.
About 10 minutes walking from the hotel, there was a private beach with crystal blue water. This place was quiet and calm, since it was only accessed by the guests from Selesa Tioman Hotel.
You could have some fun at Berjaya Resort where you can find pub, sports activities, diving centre and gifts shop over there. Free shuttle service is provided at Selesa Tioman every hour which will stop at the lobby of Berjaya Resort. The last shuttle will be at 12am from Berjaya.
The hotel is surrounded by monkeys. If you face the problem with the monkeys in your room, you may request to get a tiger doll from the concierge. It's advisable to put it at the window to scare away the monkeys and it really works.
