We stayed for 2 nights at the end of June 2016. We had one day of rain followed by a day of sun. Exploring the island was fun on both days. At midnight on the first night we roamed the island listening to the cries of the Manx shearwaters as they came back to their burrows. During the day, viewing...

Skomer Island, off the coast of Pembrokeshire is an amazing place to visit if you enjoy wildlife. In particular Puffins. I live close to Matins Haven the departure point. However this was my first stay on the island. The accommodation is basic but comfortable. You take your own food and a sleeping bag or duvets. There is a well equipped...

The accommodation is not the reason why tou stay on Skomer island overnight. The rooms are quite basic, look like a hostel. No high powered Appliances are allowed because they have to generate their electricity so don't expect a microwave in the kitchen or a hairdryer in your room. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook on a gas...

Hi, Thank you so much for your review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay, especially the Manx Shearwaters, and we hope that you found the accommodation clean. We apologise for the lack of electricals, as the island is sustainable it generates its own electricity and therefore we are unable to provide simple luxuries such as microwaves and...

I read a previous review that said Skomer was 'not for the faint hearted' which made me somewhat apprehensive as to whether the steps up from the boat would be a bit scary for one who is not keen on heights. But let me say, I should not have worried...there is a strong handrail/fence all the way up to stop...

We have recently returned from a two night stay on Skomer. I think most of the other reviews are fair and insightful so there were no real surprises for us eg packing light to walk up stairs etc. My wife and myself had a private room (the Curlew). Basic of course but much better than a lot of B&Bs I...

As a regular overnighter at Skomer, I find the accommodation basic but perfectly acceptable. Sharing a room with strangers can be difficult but with a bit of give and take is a good way to meet new friends. The steps up the cliff and the need to form a human chain to get bags on and off the boats (please,...

Excellent trip....only 1 night was planned but we had to stay 2 as the boat didn't run to take us back as it was too windy. Be prepared for this to happen as I think it's reasonably common. That said, what a fantastic place to get marooned!! Wildlife was fantastic. The accommodation was basic but clean and tidy. We hardly...
