We were hungry called into this pub where staff gave us full service by telling us what was available. This pub is not posh by the best of standards, However It has loads of character. What could be regarded as a real country pub on a small village green. Although I did not see any farmers standing at the bar... More

Stayed the one night in Room 11. Its sold as a superking room which it nearly is. 2 single beds with a mattress topper over them. Bathroom is tiny and the shower an experience (once you manage to get the doors closed on it) The staff are really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine and cooked to order. There... More

Lovely night at Newcastle House. Had a really nice bar meal. The staff are very friendly & accommodating. We had the double room, overlooking front street (6). Bed very comfortable & clean. Room is over the bar but this didn't bother us at all. Great night sleep. Breakfast very good. Cereals, toast, juice, tea or coffee, yoghurts & fresh fruit.... More

This hotel was recommended to us as being a friendly, comfortable and unpretentious hotel that gave good value for money. We were not disappointed. The room was ok with a perfectly comfortable bed, breakfasts were made to order and were very good, evening meals were good value and the overall atmosphere was of relaxed friendliness. Would visit again. Pity the... More

This hotel is just being done up (did find the paint fumes in the corridors overpowering . The room itself was lovely gigantic bed and over looking the main street but not noisy. The bathroom had a lot of mould round the shower, obviously still to be sorted. Breakfast was ok, had 2 meals in the restaurant which were delicious.... More

We went in, hoping to get an evening meal but not realising there was a music festival on in Rothbury and everywhere was heaving! At first it seemed as if there would be no chance of us getting a table but then the brilliant staff did some serious juggling to find us somewhere to sit. The menu had a good... More

We found this hotel at very short notice on booking.com for an absolute bargain £59 for 2 including breakfast, which was cooked to perfection. The food was excellent, the rooms were clean and comfy and the staff were lovely and friendly. The large wines were very large!!

Lovely friendly atmosphere with helpful staff, offering excellent service. Truly, this was the very best steak and ale pie I have ever had. This one really delivered! All our group enjoyed the food immensely. Moroccan Vegetable Stew with chunky bread was well-recommended as was the apple and rhubarb crumble and sticky toffee pudding. We shall definitely return; to try the... More
