This guesthouse was a big dissappointment. We were promised accomodation for our driver, and even though we had email contact where they promised us a drivers lodge, there was none when we arrived. We were also met by a man who didn't speak english at all, and hence he was not able to help us with setting up the safari...

Elephant rest is situated closeby to Udawalawey park. Tickets are priced around LKR 20 for locals. There are standard times where elephants arrives and feeding takes place. This is usually in the evening and better to check the times before arriving.

Elephant rest is a good place to relax. located close to the park about 1.5km in the middle of a Village. the care taker served delicious Sri Lankan curries. rooms were nice with satellite TV, coffee making and Fridge. rooms are clean and nicely appointed. the hotel has its own safari jeep which is very comfortable and offers the best...

We stayed at Elephant Rest for 2 nights while visiting Udawalawe park. I moved to Colombo a month ago and Kamari's cooking is the best Sri Lankan food I have eaten so far. Sajeewa, her husband, was a very gracious host too, and made our bookings for the safari (saving us money from what we were quoted earlier). The rooms...

We stayed here for one night, just to do the safari the next morning. We arrived around 3pm, greeted by the owner and shown our spacious room, with complementary drink. It was hard to find, we drove from Mirissa and the location is much further on the right than Google maps advises. Had a brilliant dinner, homemade rice curry was...

When we arrived, the place and room seems ok. But after a few minutes you can see how dirty the place is (room, restaurant, bathroom). We stayed 2 nights and the second evening the owner (or maybe employee) ask us a few times what time we want to check out the next day. We told him we don't know yet...

Our experience at this place was nothing like the good reviews we had read. The photos of the room looked quite nice on the booking websites (agoda, booking.com, etc) but what we were given was really dirty, small room with virtually no view out. The first thing we noticed was the smell - it smelled like a toilet that had...

We booked a room based on excellent reviews. No stranger to rough or basic rooms, we did not expect or request four or even two-star treatment. However, the room we were given on arrival - a small, yellow, putrid box with no natural light and an overall aura of tropical gloom - was not what we were expecting for over...

Clean, basic, friendly in a great location for the national park. The couple running it provided the best and personal service they could. Great dinner and breakfast. Best toast in all Sri Lanka from local bakery bread. Good value. Just 2 rooms mean no crowds !!!!

We loved this place even though we only stayed for one night (they let us check in early and check out late the day after. There are 2 spacious, clean, comfortable rooms with a fridge, TV, kettle and hair-dryer. The property is close to Udawalawa National Park entrance; the caretakers booked our safari trip for early next morning and chased...
