We recently stay at Tarpon River Lodge during a Stand Up Paddle Board trip from San Carlos to San Juan del Norte. We hadn't booked anything when we arrived that day, but a local man at the wharf directed us to the Lodge. We had ALOT of equipment for the 200 km journey and they were more than happy to...

We stayed two nights in Sabalos, in between two different river trips we did (one upstream to Boca Negra, the other down river all the way to San Juan de Nicaragua -- both highly recommended with guide Don Julio Murillo). The owners were very friendly and our dinner was fabulous (fresh caught fish!) and our room was clean. The best...

Went to the Tarpon on recommendation of local tour guide Julio. Was not expecting much but what we got was by far the best meal I ate during my trip to the Sabalos area if not the whole of Nicaragua. The hotel boasts a genuine trained chef and it showed. No rice n peas, lettuce and mashed potato here
