We reserved a room in this place, but when we arrived after a long day of travel, the owner told us that the room we reserved was unavailable. She referred to a hotel out of town, where rooms would be available. They weren't. The hotel manager there said that this chambre d'hotes did this often. So beware that your reservation may not be respected; be sure to have an alternative ready.

We recently stayed at this hotel while staying in Ribera for a couple of days to see a friend. Madame Florence was very welcoming to both of us and our two miniature Dachshunds. Nothing was too much trouble and we really enjoyed our stay. The location is great, very central and the rooms perfect for us and the dogs. It is a very charming hotel.

We stayed here back in July 2015 (have had to put July 2017 as it's a while back) as a group of four, having booked the B&B's only two bedrooms 8 months previously, the "Suite" (my two female friends) and the "Double" (my boyfriend and me). Upon being greeted by the owner, we were told that my two friends' suite was ready but that ours wasn't ready yet, so we were ushered out to the pool in the back garden and given a refreshing drink. So far so good. We decided to take a dip in the pool while we were waiting and as we got in, a young couple and their baby came outside to join us. "Funny", I thought, "I wonder where they're staying as there are only two rooms". The lady comes into the garden 45 minutes later and tells us the room is ready, and shows us into a room that is NOT the "Double" that I booked on the website - if anything it is a quadruple, for there are two double beds in it! More to the point, the room was very clearly lived in by someone. "Erm," I say, "this isn't what I booked on the website", to which the lady responds innocently, "yes it is". She then goes on to say that when the B&B is overbooked, she rents out her daughter's room (the room in which we were were standing). When I asked to stay in the room that I had booked on the website, she responded (as I had feared), that the young family were already staying in it. What could we do? Ribérac is a small village, we were there for a friend's wedding and we had nowhere else to stay, so we had to put up with it. I made sure that the lady could see I was not happy (my boyfriend doesn't speak French so this was all a bit confusing for him). The room didn't feel clean, we didn't feel like we could spread out in it or unpack our stuff because a) there was no lock and b) the daughter kept coming in to get her things whenever we were out. The bathroom had loose tiles on the floor - no health and safety and of course, the drawers and surfaces were filled with the daughter's stuff, nail varnishes, perfumes, cosmetics, used razors. There was no curtain or screen around the bath and no attachment to fix the shower head to the wall so showering was messy. There was also no curtain on the window or frosted glass so I literally felt like I was showering in front of the world. I know that probably no-one could see, it it's these small comforts that you look for when staying in a B&B or hotel - an element of privacy! On both nights, when we returned from dinner and drinks and the wedding, we could hear the two kids in the bedroom next-door talking and giggling - presumably the daughter had had to bunk with her brother because we were in her room, and from the sounds of it, she wasn't mad keen on it either. It's not exactly ideal feeling like you're stealing someone's room against their wishes and paying for the privilege. On the last morning we were so relieved to be on our way, but absolutely adamant that we would not be paying the full price for our unpleasant stay. It was like the woman knew that we would kick off, because she was there waiting at the bottom of the stairs for us when we came down with our suitcases, to ask us if we'd enjoyed our stay. When I said no, that it wasn't what I had booked, and that I hadn't signed up to stay in her daughter's room and feel like I couldn't even relax there, she smiled as if I was being silly and said that it was what I'd booked. I responded that I didn't think that we should be expected to pay the full price for our stay and that my boyfriend and I would not be prepared to pay the remaining 50% that we owed. It was at that point that the smile came off her face and she got quite nasty, saying that she would get her partner out to sort things out if I felt that we didn't need to pay the full amount. My boyfriend was completely bemused, not understanding the exchange at all, but could tell that things had taken a turn for the worse. As she called for her partner, telling him in a raised voice that we were refusing to pay, my boyfriend stuffed the money in her hand and gestured for me to go before the partner came out, and we hopped quite quickly into our mate's car to head off to the train station, before she could say another word. I have been meaning to leave this review for years as this experience has always stayed with me and I feel it needs to be shared. Do NOT stay here, it's a total waste of money and if you are like we were, you won't get what you paid for.

We spent three nights in this amazing house . Two on the way south to friends who live near Pau and one on the way back to UK because we liked it so much. The rooms are huge with high ceilings and very tastefully designed and furnished. Our hosts are as stylish and charming as their rooms and made us feel most welcome. Continental breakfast was served in a conservatory overlooking a beautiful garden and swimming pool which is available to guests. The house is positioned in the very centre of Riberac a stones throw from an excellent restaurant called the Chabrot and a great bar cafe called I think Les Colonnes . The shops are a minute away. I loved staying here and will certainly stay here again if I can.

We stayed at the Florence with friends before we went to a nearby Chateau for our wedding. The B&B is utterly charming it's clearly a very old building which added to it's beauty. The floors, the doors, the decor and style - perfectly gorgeous. In the centre of town, it was very convienent, on the Friday we had a large french market right outside the door. The owner Florence is a beautiful lady who couldn't do enough for us. She was extremley friendly, helpful and kind. She even looked after our dog whilst we relaxed by the pool. If you're after authentic french charm then this is the place for you!

We stay at Florence's B&B for 7 nights and we were treated like very privileged customers. The owner, Florence is a very warm person with a lovely charismatic presence. Having a yummy breakfast surrounded by inspiring paintings was one of the highlight of our stay. The room was great spacious and lovely decorated. Florence has been very helpful and has provided us with a friendly service. It was easy to find a place to park our car. The view from the room was nice, we could see Riberac's market. In a nut shell, great B&B located in a very nice town.

We were initially greeted by a pleasant lady who was the owner, but within minutes were feeling very disappointed. The hotel is very dirty with paint flaking off walls and thread bare carpets. The bed linen and towels are in desperate need of upgrading. Also due to the location (it is central to the town), was noisy at night. It is situated on a market square, close to a bar. The breakfast we were served in the morning was minimal and the lady we initially met on our arrival had become rude, as though she couldn't wait for us to leave the place. There are other places in the general area for the same or even less money that offer far better quality, service and value. If you want to be disappointed and also feel ripped off then this is the place for you. Please save your money!!
