We were due to start our canal boating holiday from Briare, and we needed a place to stay for a night before we picked up our Penichette the next day. We searched online and found the Domaine des Roches. Honestly, their website completely sucks, old fashioned, boring, non-descriptive - we almost did not choose to stay here... I'm very glad... The hotel is located in rather large, and grand grounds which gives the impression that the stay will match in terms of luxury and comfort. The reality was, unfortunately not the case. You need a car to get anywhere in this region, and everything seems to be spaced far apart. Our cottage, a semi detached bungalow - was also so... More

Myself and 3 friends rented a cottage here for a friends wedding in the local area. The cottage was very basic, and felt quite uninviting, however the location was beautiful. On the 3rd day, we were horrified to see our double room infested with ants, flies and bugs. We recorded a video of the infestation, which was coming from the... More

We used a self-catering cottage in the extensive grounds of this hotel both before and after a canal boat holiday on the Canal Lateral a la Loire. Extremely comfortable and very well equipped. Dogs welcome!

We stayed in room 17, a large, comfortable, quiet and tastefully appointed room with up to date features. This former industrialist Bapterosses' estate contains some lovely art-deco features especially the mirrored wall in the bar. The house is set in a park with many welcome features. The food was well prepared, presented and served. One aspect that other hotels would... More

We stayed for two nights at this hotel located in the charming town of Briare. The hotel outside is very nice whereas the interior does not match. The staff is polite and speak English. The room is very spacious and has everything you need. A few issues we came across. The shutters switch is below the ceiling you have to... More

Charming and comfortable historical place in a nice park with old trees. Staff is friendly, swimming pool is large and the hotel is overall very clean. Restaurant provides sophisticated food for a very reasonable price.

This isn’t a stand-out place to stay (before writing this review I had to rack my brains to remember it at all), but that of course means that it wasn’t bad; the dire places are naturally unforgettable. It’s clean, well run, quiet and well appointed. Our room had everything you’d want. It was big, comfortable and nice in every possible... More

Arriving at the hotel was very promissing, beautiful hotel and parc. Though the rooms are very unatractive, also the entrance of the hotel. Food is really poor, staff not friendly at all (except the receptionist) breakfast below any level. Also very few people in the hotel, most probably this hotel will not last for a very long time

We stayed here for 3 nights with our youngest child, while the 2 eldest stayed with their grandparents on their boat in town. It was a very enjoyable stay. Excellent facilities, with pool, gym and lovely grounds. All of which we made the most of! Very helpful and courteous staff, comfortable room with black out blinds that helped along some... More
