The service at the resort is not top notch. The staff cannot communicate with you and frankly every single person we interacted with at check in had a badge on labelled as "trainee." During high season, this seems problematic to me.

From the time we arrived to the time we reluctantly left, we felt welcomed as part of a family. What makes this beautiful resort exceptional, is the staff. They were the kindest, most incredible hospitality staff we have come across. Always smiling and chatting with...More
First off, I’d like to start by saying that the resort is absolutely beautiful. Walking into the reception was breath taking with an infinity pool filled with coi fish and then down to our room through what felt like a secret garden.

My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights here which I booked months in advance. The first night was in an ocean pool villa and the second a deluxe room. Do not bother with this hotel, the ocean pool villas bed was terribly hard, woke up...More
We started our vacation in Bangkok, then Phuket and ended it in Koh Samui, we did this because we love nightlife and knew that we at some needed some good rest. This hotel is awesome, very beautiful and peaceful. We had a beachfront pool villa....More

We booked our tours through a travel agent prior to arriving, however the weather proved an obstacle and we were not able to do any of them. There is a local but reputable tour operator directly across the road from Nora Beach plus the reception can also guide you for tours. Your choice .
Thai baht ( cash ) is best for transactions on the island, we used a travellers card to withdraw and pay a we went. Most Restaurants take credit card but the shops , massages etc I feel cash was king. This also assists with bartering for the best price for you.
You need to be a little careful where you provide a credit card over there as there is many opportunists just waiting to take you for a ride. We paid cash for a guided jet ski safari tour to several islands which was awesome and our hotel account for a 1/2 day tour around Koh Umai.
Hope this helps.

There are a few walkable restaurants and bars (turn left from the hotel entrance). But town is farther. It's easy to get cheap taxi or tuk-tuk rides from the hotel into town, but a little bit too far to walk, I think. You can ride for 100-150 thai baht (about $ 3-5 USD) in a tuk-tuk or a tuk-truck (the latter is kinda like a small Philippine jeepney). We just stood outside the hotel and waited for one to go by - usually only 5 minutes. Prices are negotiable. Koh Samui is a big island, we did not explore most of it. It was a SCUBA trip for us. The resort is really beautiful and peaceful. Close to the airport, but we did not hear airplane noise.
