Lovely Malay Kampung houses on the way to resort. Managed to take photos of 2 hornbills on telephone line near resort.
1 bathroom is not adequate for 4 people. No mirror in bathroom or at sink. Room is spacious for 2 adults. Tv reception not clear. Need better maintenance of chalets. Pools for adults and kids. Didn't manage to taste food as only 2 vouchers for a chalet. Kampung coffee shop outside entrance to resort. Limited parking space. Friendly and helpful staff.
The Complex was officially opened to the public in 2004. Everything seems peaceful now but it was not always so for it was here that the first British Resident of Perak, Mr. J.W.W. Birch was assassinated in 1875.
Under the Pangkor Treaty signed in 1874, Perak was established as a British Protectorate and an advisor was appointed to the Sultan of Perak. This British advisor or Resident assumed complete control of Perak in all matters except those involving customs and religion

The river is right next to the resort and accessible via the resort. It has it's own charm for those who like that kind of view. The garden and general vicinity is quite well-maintained. Except for the pool. That is just disgusting.
Rooms are decent, bedding is decent. Bathrooms can be small and dark.
There is a race-track across the river, and heavily modified cars make laps around it on the days that you are unlucky enough to be around for it. It is terribly noisy and a complete peace-wrecker. Otherwise, it is very very quiet, bordering creepy and spooky.
I won't be returning very quickly, especially with young kids.
