This hotel and spa was amazing. The volcano appeared through the clouds in the morning. Breathtaking. The hot pools were wonderful and very relaxing. The food was great and plentiful. Service was wonderful. All in all this was perfect. The massage was very good as well. I hope to return one day.

Beautiful backdrop, if the weather is good. I was on a Gate 1 tour, coming back from the rain forest. This was a lunch stop, that included some time in the water. Very nice facility. Multiple pools at different temperatures. Pools are not very natural, but they are pleasant enough. Large, clean, spacious changing areas. Lunch was very good. I...

We only spent a night here, but the hot spring pools outside the rooms are wonderful, and there are great short hikes/trails from the property that take you through farm country, along a river and waterfalls that you shouldn't miss. Didn't visit the public hot spring pools, the ones by the rooms are less crowded. The restaurant is just average...

We went for a business conference with my husband, the place is beautiful, relaxing and the surroundings breathtaking. Nonetheless there are certain services that are subpar with regards to the hotel's ranking: 1. Room decor. Absolutely tasteless. It belongs in 1990/1980 2. Toiletries. A first class spa has cheap toiletries equivalent of you get in a 3 star hotel, or...

All the rooms are located next to the pools that are fed by volcanic hot springs and in between them are cooling pools, so for the health benefits you go from one to the other. I've got to admit I spent more time in the warmth of the mineral waters. There is a spa attached to this Hotel that has...

Where to begin? The setting is absolutely gorgeous. The pools are very well-designed and meticulously maintained. The design of the buildings is marvelous as well. The public bathing area ($4/day for seniors) is wonderful and a great bargain with pools of ascending temperature from tepid to scorching. Staff are always very accommodating. For a splurge, now and then, we book...

Beautiful location- the view of the mountains from the hot springs was incredible. The food was good too, and the rooms were lovely, with heated floors for the cold. Our room was 10 steps away from some lovely hot springs- very relaxing. The wifi was slow from the rooms, but it worked. The spa massages were fantastic.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Termas de Papallacta is a Hot Springs SPA, Resort & Convention Center nestled in a majestic valley of the high Andes only 45 minutes driving distance, 31 miles (50 kilometers) from the new Quito Airport. We are located at Km 65 on the way to Baeza following the Interoceanic road. Our resort is on the "Cinnamon Trail", the same route that the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana took in 1542 when he crossed the Andean mountain range searching for gold and other treasures, and which unexpectedly led him to discover the Amazon River. Papallacta is the doorway to the Ecuadorian Amazon region, despite being in the Ecuadorian Highlands at an altitude of 10.827 feet (3.300 meters) above sea level and of an average daytime temperature of 14°C (57°F). ... more   less
