It is a lot better to stay at a casa particular (as B&Bs are normally called in Cuba...). It was too expensive for what it was and we missed the service we received at casas throughout our trip. Do not get me wrong, people in Baracoa are very nice but staff at this government run hotel left a sour taste...

Did not stay here but wished I had. Had a drink in the bar,non existent service and selection of drinks, very fawlty towers, worth it just for this. Great views and the pool looked gd too. Not much more expensive than my casa.

A very nice hotel with very friendly staff. The cocktails at the swimming pool are great and the swimming pool is very clean. They have a little gym and you can get a massage. A good breakfast. The stairs up to the hotel are not so tough.

Quality hotel above the city with a nice view. Staff helpful. Room clean, but dysfunctional refrigerator and air conditioning. Pool for hotel guests only, clean. Food tasty and plentiful. I recommend.

This was a lovely hotel, just a big walk to get up the stairs to it as our bus wasn't allowed up the steep road. And then I had a room along way up more stairs so it was certainly a way to get fit! However the rooms were comfortable, and it had a great swimming pool. And a hint...

Stayed for two nights in June with my husband. The hotel is in the remains of the old fort (although very little remains), at the top of a hill from which some very steep steps descend into the town. So the good things - the view is wonderful as you expect from a hotel on a hill. The pool is...

My comments are only based on comparison with other Cuban hotels. If you experience few of them than you know what I´m talking about. Our accommodation on second floor was clean, comfortable, spacious, and everything worked. The hotel is in an old fort on a hill overlooking Baracoa. The views are great. There is bar near a decent pool but...

We were in the rear rooms of the hotel, and luckily, our tour bus was small enough to drive to the top of the hill, and the porters could lug our bags up to the room. Being high, gave you a good view of the town. But what is it with hotels in Cuba - they don't have plugs that...

We stayed in El Castillo for three nights in May in a standard room. The room was spacious. Everything worked well. The bathroom had been modernized with a walk-in shower. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The room we had was on the ground floor of the top block and had a lovely view from the...
