The evening meals provided for our group of 14 were quite shocking. The five vegetarians were given spaghetti with minimal 'sauce' each evening, One evening I had a beef 'steak' that was completely unchewable .Another evening only turkey was available for the non-vegetarians. Instead of being carved, the bird was hacked mecilessly with a cleaver, resulying in a unsavouably mass...

So this is a two star hotel, but I gave it three because it's in the Cuban countryside, and everyone says it's the best hotel in Baracoa, and the staff is eager to please. The photos are a bit misleading. It does have a great view, as long as you don't look too far to the right and see what...

Nestled within the walls of a colonial Spanish fort, this hotel commands a gorgeous view over the Atlantic Ocean and the place where Columbus first came ashore in Cuba and where the first Spanish settlement was made c. 1515. While basic in amenities, it was very pleasant and comfortable. It was great to be able to step out of the...

We stayed here as part of a tour. Baracoa is an interesting place to visit and this is the biggest hotel. It felt quite awkward living in relative luxury high above the poverty stricken people below. However the views are stunning and the place is clean but tired and dated. There is a lovely pool and pool bar but no...

El Castillo is all about the location set high on the hill above Baracoa on the site of the old fort. We had spectacular views over the town to the sea and then from the balcony spectacular vistas out to El Yunque and the terrifying looking air strip. The pool area and bar were lovely and made the most of...

An amazing hotel where the staff bends over backward to accommodate. They greet you like family and make sure you are comfortable and cared for. The rooms are clean and large with windows that open to the amazing views of Baracoa. The pool is wonderful with a view of El Yunque from the water.

I recently returned from a 4 day stay at El Castillo. The views are fabulous...of the sea and the charming town of Baracoa. The rooms are comfortable with fridge, TV and Air Cond. The food is quite good. The pool was crystal clear. Best of all is the helpful and pleasant staff...from the director of the hotel to the wait...

I recently spent 5 nights at El Castillo and was very pleased with the cleanliness of the room, the magnificent views and especially the friendly, helpful staff. The pool and bar area couldn't have a more stunning backdrop of the mountains, beach, city and bay. Highly recommended.

We just returned from a visit to Baracoa, Cuba, which is a magical city on the eastern tip of Cuba. We stayed at the Hotel El Castillo on a hill overlooking the city, the port, the beach and the Atlantic ocean. This is a Three star hotel with a million dollar view. The staff is outstanding: friendly, helpful and resourceful....

The Hotel El Castillo is a VERY nice hotel, by Cuban standards! It is located in an old Spanish fort, which was built with a commanding view over the city and harbour entrance. The view from our room, number 221, was, by any standard, stunning! It enjoyed views over Baracoa city, the harbour bay, and the unusual flat topped mountain,...
