This (very) old lady has not done her make up for decades. Still clean and functional (air conditioning, hot shower) though. Kind reception staff. Good old charm of Moz eighties. You won't be cheated for the $30 (3,100 Mts in Jan 2017), but you will not get more than what you paid for

Very tired after a long drive we stopped at Complexo Halley to get a room for the night and some sleep. We asked for a room facing the sea since our old guide book said they are the best. The room was terrible so I can't help wondering what the others are like. Had an OK dinner at the restaurant and...

This hotel is on the beach in Xai Xai. Despite a recent renovation, the facilites are not brilliant. There is no effort made to incorporate the views and get close to the beach. No secure parking, no facilities, no wifi, not cheap, you pay per room and not per bed. The place was clean though, and did receive us late...

Stayed 2 nights and both were memorable for rude management, terrible rooms (mine had only one of 4 light bulbs working, only one socket of 3 working, a tv with only one channel (no satellite tv anyway) and no hot water). The tap in the sink did not work. Breakfast on the second morning was a scrum with a delegation...

On a working assignment in Gaza Province I had to stay two nights in Xai-Xai. The first night in town was spent at a place which was a cross between a garage, a prison, a sports club and a brothel. It is not listed on Trip Advisor and in fact the room itself wasn't too bad and very clean! The...

This was my second unfortunate stay at the Halley and will hopefully be my last. This time, however, I had a friend with me so we both will share years of memories of the worst place we've ever stayed. Where to begin ... the room. Hmmm, there was definitely a Gulag inspired motif to add to the institutional feeling of...

I was very grateful to stay in Complexo Turistico Halley, as the other option was being stuck on the side of the road in rural Mozambique or in a very dodgy motel in the town of Xai-Xai. It's also named after Halley's Comet, which is adorable, across the street from the beach, which was convenient, and attracted a nice crew...

Location, location, location. f you like being near the beach, this is the place for you. In the US, this would be a 2 star hotel, maybe. The shower in my room only dribbled, but it was hot (no tub). The shower stall looked like something out of a cheap trailer park, rusty and falling apart. There were no mosquitos...

After 2007 I recently travel to Xai-Xai in November 2012 and stay in this hotel. It is a grand old hotel but recently received some renovations to the restaurant and bar. The rooms are reasonably sized and although old are clean. It has aircondition, a balcony overlooking the sea, fa small refrigerator and TV. There is no internet access at...
