We arrived 30 mins late and the owner, Philip, had gone, just leaving the house open. Luckily his sister kived next door. Philip finally arrived with the keys at 10.30 the next morning. The house was tidy and clean, but full of personal stuff - our wardrobe and some drawers had the owner's clothes in. It was not comprehensively and... More

Dear Jeremy: I would say that had you arrived on time, or arranged for us to meet, instead of arriving 2 1/2 hours late, [not thirty minutes] most of the issues would have been dealt with as to where large glasses are. There are two sets of large glasses. Yes there is a vine on the patio, and yes it... More

The farm house has a lovely setting. It is peaceful, quiet, and the view across the valley is enchanting. The bedrooms were comfortable, the baths were well appointed, and the kitchen was well equipped. Everything was so clean and tidy when we arrived. We enjoyed cooking and relaxing in the house.

A lovely "Family" home in the country, but walking distance to town for the hardy. Love European living, style and flavor? Villa La Fontana has just the right ambiance. Centrally located in Italy you have many options to see the country. Having a car is a real plus for site seeing and dining out but Rome is just a train... More

A group of 5 of us stayed at La Fontana in October. The setup of the house worked well because we had 1 couple and three singles. The house and grounds were very charming and we loved spending breakfast before heading out for the day with the kitchen window wide open to an amazing view. We cooked almost all dinners... More

Thank you for your comments on La Fontana. We really appreciate your stay. With respect to driving, the roads are quite twisting, but it is part of the charm of an old landscape. The Via Flaminia, an old Roman road that goes all the way to the Adriatic coast has some amazing vista's and I would also recommend the drive... More

We loved our time in Amelia staying in this historic and authentic farm house! Beautiful terrace overlooking olive groves with a sweeping view of the valley. The house is beautifully furnished and appointed with all of the modern touches (hi definition tv's, wifi, satellite cable) that we come to depend on. The hill town of Amelia is charming and there... La Fontana is a beautiful, tasteful country house, situated in a lovely garden, surrounded by olive trees, views to the valley and close to the historic town of Amelia. A perfect place to relax in a private atmosphere and to explore from there interesting places like Orvieto, Spoleto, Todi, Assissi, etc. or the many beautiful villages nearby . The main... More

November at La Fontana. We staid during the Olive harvest and spent a wonderful time in the olive grove picking olives in the organic "garden". Some of these trees are over 200 years old, all gnarled and look like the Yents in the "Lord of the Rings". Amelia is a funny town, still has an artisans feel to it, and... More

I was looking for a place to spend time in complete privacy with my family, seven people involving three generations! A site to rest, together with the possibility to wake up all the five senses present in the human being body! We first stayed nearby Spoleto in a so pleasant country house and, by chance, days later, wandering around, we... More

What a habitat, La Fontana is! On your way from Orte approching Amelia (Umbria) you go straight right downwards passing some tidious housings then small houses untill you almost bump into Francos ( he knows about traditional farming) farm and the pigs( read: ham) screem. Now you see the beautiful valley as you enter the courtyard of La Fontana. The... More
