My time staying at back to nature feels like a dream...it was just so very beautiful. From the location to the friendly staff, to the delicious food, everything was just perfect. The guesthouse is in located in the jungle, 40 minutes away from everything. When you walk along the river to get to the guest house, you will pass some...

Do you want to to rest in the jungle? Do you want to meet monkeys life? Stay at back to nature! You will be warmly welcomed. You will reach your guesthouse using a zipline above the river (by night for us!). I highly recommend this experience

We stayed in 'Back to Nature' for one night as part of a trek. The surrounding scenery is sublime; sat nicely on the Bohorok river facing out to the greenery of the national park. The staff are very pleasant and it is truly amazing to see some of the national park's inhabitants up close and personal here, especially the Thomas...

What a wonderful and peaceful place at the bank of the Bahorok river and in the middle of the jungle! On the 30-40 minutes walk from the village along the river bank, you can get first impresssions of the rainforest and its wildlife (and now you don't even have to cross the river by the cable-lift anymore) The very spacious...

No hot shower, No toilet paper, No electricity(sometimes)... No problem! In this guesthouse, we can get more precious things than anything. If you are passive, they have nothing. But if you love nature and try to enjoy yourself, they have everything. You can enjoy the greatest time in the world. Of course you can see wild orangutans, long-tail monkeys, various...

Our group of 5 stayed here for a night when visiting Bukit Lawang and we loved it. It was a very different experience from anywhere we have ever stayed before and it will be hard to beat it. We arranged our trip to Bukit Lawang through Rahman of HarimauSumatraTravel.com so we already had jungle trekking, rafting and 3 nights accommodation...

Stayed here for one night after a day trek in the jungle as part of a trip organised for us by Rahman at Harimau Sumatra Travel. The setting is stunning. The guesthouse sits right beside the river and is surrounded by the jungle. It is a beautifully crafted wooden structure with a lovely dining/Living area and spacious bedrooms (with mosquito...

I really enjoyed my stay at back to nature. Its about 20 minutes far away from the village and if you reach the place you'll feel the silence and calmness at this place. The guesthouse is in the middle of the jungle and you can relax totally. Take a swim in the river, enjoy the surroundings, maybe go for trekking...

We had an awesome time here. Thanks to reviews we knew to expect the 45 minute walk from the town to the lodge. All the hiking and activities start from the town, so you do go back and forth every day and it does require extra travel time. However, we found this worth it. The place is a gem and...

Loved the sound of this place in Lonely Planets. Thought it would be ideal as after all we are in the jungle. Disappointed. The walk to the guest house is way too long after a 4 hour journey to get to Bukit Luwang. We arrived at 10.30 pm and had the 45 minute walk in absolute darkness (thank goodness for...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
BACK TO NATURE - THE HIDDEN PARADISE If you are looking for the most hidden place in Bukit Lawang, in the middle of nature, surrounded by the North Sumatran rainforest and its wildlife inhabitants, our eco-friendly Back To Nature Guesthouse or Back to Nature Jungle Camp is the perfect place for you! To get to our guesthouse, our friendly staff will pick you up from the village car park, carry your luggage and guide you along the river bank track that the owner (Aca) has built it himself over a period of 3,5 years. You will also cross the Bahorok river twice with our "flying canopy" (both track and canopy will be upgraded and fully renovated by the end of May 2014) before reaching Back To Nature Guest House. Back to Nature which is full of peace, relaxation but also excitement and lots of fresh air has 4 rooms with a breathtaking scenery of both, our privately-owned jungle and the Gunung Leuser National Park right above the Bahorok river. It is a place away from the "rest of the world" and all the troubles that come with it. We have free WIFI and you can take a hot shower - the jungle way. We serve you simple but fresh food from the village market every day. Our continuous mission is to buy more jungle (we own 120 hectars so far) and save it from logging and development. We are also growing fruit trees for the wild animals to prevent them from going near the crops of the villages. We have planted 1.500 Fruit trees so far, our goal is 30.000! YOU CAN HELP by coming to Bukit Lawang and see our breathtaking natural reserves and our precious Orang Utans. As long as Ecotourism provides an income for the local people to feed their families, they will protect their jungle and the animals that live in it. THANK YOU! Aca and Back to Nature Team! ... more   less
