Great evening at the Villa Cefala’s restaurant. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area. Fabulous starters followed by equally delicious mains of pork belly and the best tuna steak I’ve ever tasted. The pizzas looked and tasted amazing too. Compliments to the chef! Ignacio - our server - was very helpful and attentive while giving us our space to enjoy our dinner. Great ambience and beautiful setting.

As many people mention, this Agriturismo is wonderful. The room, the pool, the common area are all extremely clean and well maintained. I come here every year to relax for a few days and I have never been disappointed. The owners and the staff are always kind and accommodating. Unfortunately this year, due to a change of management, I have been let down by the new manager and his lack of manners. My two girlfriends, who are local, came to visit me in the afternoon and we all hung out in the pool area. The manager approached me in front of everyone - with a sense of entitlement and arrogance - and told me that I needed to pay extra if I wanted my girlfriends to be there and use the swimming pool area. Although I agreed with him, I was left embarrassed by the whole situation. There was a total lack of professionalism coupled up with poor customer service and this is the reason I won’t go back next year. I was charged € 40 for having my 2 girlfriends visit for one afternoon!

Response from G S, Direttore generale at Villa Cefala
Responded 10 Aug 2020

The rooms are clean and beautiful , a little dark, but the beauty is in the grounds. The pool is spotless. And is close to restaurants. The restaurant on site is closed on Tuesday for dinner, but still open for breakfast.

We booked this agriturismo for a two night stay. The property is very imposing. We were greeted warmly on arrival and quickly checked in. The room we got had an ante room which appeared sparsely furnished, a couch would have been a good idea. The bedroom was large and there was a separate shower room. There was an outdoor pool, but we didn't have time to enjoy. Our room also had an outdoor terrace area which was a nice place to sit in the evening, although the small table there was dirty with breadcrumbs and stains, a quick clean between guests would be a good idea. That said, the room itself was clean and tidy. Breakfast both mornings was very good with lots of choices. We'd chosen this agriturismo as we'd wanted to visit Palermo and especially the cathedral at Monreale. We'd heard about the traffic in Palermo and didn't want to drive. The local commuter train is about a 10 minute walk from the agriturismo and takes about 20 minutes and €2.50 to get there. I should point out that footpaths are not that common in Sicily, as was the case here. So, for anyone nervous of walking along the side of the road, the short trip to the train station might be an issue. The reputation of Italian drivers is well earned. They have an unusually liberal interpretation of the rules of the road, a sort of "Wild West" approach in my opinion. The fact that the majority of the cars are in some way damaged attests to that! We survived. So, this is a very convenient, well managed place, which ticks all the boxes for a short stay. The only issue that I believe the owners should look at is the charge of €10 per person for breakfast. The whole idea of a B&B is exactly that Bed & Breakfast. Having stayed all over Italy in agriturismos this was the first time we were charged for breakfast. I'm not suggesting the charge was a surprise, it wasn't. However, if the target group is people looking for a B&B , that's what one should offer. Conversely, if they view themselves more as a small hotel, then being on the agriturismo site is a little perplexing for individuals

After reading the prior positive reviews, my husband and I and our friends booked four nights at this agriturismo. It appealed in part because it was on/near the train line to Palermo and we didn't want to drive into the city. Prior reviews were good and the pictures of the grounds looked great. Unfortunately, we had a very different experience from other reviewers; so different in fact that we wondered if the property had been sold in the year since the last reviews appeared. Others talked about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and owner, but we dealt with only one individual the entire time, a lovely man named Hassan, who spoke very little English (we wound up communicating in our broken French since he was fluent in that). We don't fault Hassan. He was charming and had a really tough job, doing virtually everything from check-in, to luggage, to breakfast and dinner service, etc. He couldn't have been nicer but between the language difficulties and the very rundown state of the rooms themselves, it was not a pleasant stay. The property itself is in fact beautiful, as is the pool, but unusually cool weather kept us from lounging outdoors. Our rooms, however, were dark and depressing, with minimal, ugly furniture, terrible lighting and no place to sit, other than the bed (which was actually reasonably comfortable). (The feel was very much a downscale U.S. motel from the 1950s!) As for food, our one dinner was fine, but the breakfasts were very meager. Bare bones describes the place best. We decided to cut our stay short after learning we could move on to our next hotel earlier, and we informed Hassan of that fact the morning after we checked in, assuming that provided sufficient notice to revise our bill. But again, perhaps due to language issues, when we checked out, a very unpleasant woman (owner? manager?) made it clear there would be no accommodation for early departure. She was within her rights; their correspondence clearly states no cancellations within 15 days, but my experience in other such places is that the hotel will often make an accommodation to an unhappy guest as a gesture of good will. The hotel was otherwise virtually unoccupied; we saw only two other couples over the three nights we were there. No good will here, however. So we paid (and gladly) for the night we didn't use simply because we were so happy to move on.

Response from aroberta18, Responsabile reception at Villa Cefala
Responded 31 May 2019
Dear Sirs, it would have been useful to describe the facts as actually happened: 1) The reservation included a 4-night stay with the possibility of changing it without penalty within 14 days of arrival. 2) You have been welcomed in the best way, but bad weather has not allowed you to enjoy the beautiful garden and the pool. 3) The rooms you describe as squalid are actually superior rooms, with a small living room where there are 2 armchairs with low tables and a desk. 4) After visiting Palermo and its surroundings and not being able to enjoy the outdoor spaces, you have decided to leave a day earlier. 5) Unpleasant request at the time of payment, I can call it blackmail, "if we had paid the unused night you would have written a negative review on Tripadvisor" and so you did and how much you screamed! 6) In addition to Italian, our staff speaks at least one other language, unlike you who in your travels in Italy you expected long conversations in your native language even with the simple deliveryman !!! 7) Next time I can advise you not to get bored and get depressed about staying at home, traveling is something else!

We stayed at Villa Cefala for several nights; we wanted a location near Palermo and other important sites, and in an agriturismo, rather than a traditional hotel. The property consists of the original Villa (which serves as the main building for dining and party venue) and several new adjoining buildings (where the rooms are). The grounds are extensive, however, it appears that it is not really an active farm, but more of an estate with a lot of trees. Our room (a duplex) was large, but the furniture and fixtures were quite dated and in need of some maintenance. The breakfast offered a wide variety of foods, breads and pastries, typical of other agriturismos we have visited. The staff is friendly and helpful, the owner appears to live on site. The local commuter train is behind the villa and the passing trains are clearly heard (although they do not come around too often). The Villa is on the main local road in the area , making travel to Palermo and other sites by car easy. Other agriturismo may offer a much more authentic farm feel that Villa Cefala. Although Villa Cefala is acceptable, there may be better choices depending on what the traveler is seeking.

A really beautiful property with a wonderful, large swimming pool and super friendly, helpful owners and staff. Within easy reach of Palermo, Monreale, Bagheria and Céfalu so days by the pool can be combined with sightseeing and beach time. Only had breakfast there (which was good) but could see that the restaurant was popular in the evenings. Would highly recommend

I would have liked to give Villa Cefala 4 stars instead of 3. The rooms both we and our friends stayed were spacious (2 floors with kitchen, large refrig, and eating table), clean, and quiet with comfortable beds. The grounds were stunning with swimming pool, orchards, and paths. The main villa was beautiful to see with an outdoor dining area in the villa's main courtyard. We stayed in the guest house outside the main villa. However -- (1) the rooms had only 2 small windows that offered close-up views of another building (I saw that other rooms had similar small windows that faced away from those same buildings; their doors opened toward the orchards) and (2) we had to use the air conditioner due to concern for close proximity of roads and train track. But the real downer was the food that was over-cooked, not fresh (wilted salads), and served by a waiter whose certainly had another job at the villa and was only assisting the kitchen staff. If you stay here enjoy the courtyard dining only at breakfast.

Had great time. Traveled around area and used site as base. Pool was good the little we used it. Restaurant was excellent. Somewhat hard to find the first time to property. GPS did not have street address. Asked a couple on the street and they were a help. Lemons were in fruit and walking around farm was a plus.
