Wonderful balcony views over the harbour and the owner was very friendly and helpful, giving great recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

We checked out a (pre-paid) day early from Cefalu due to the fact is was impossible to sleep from the live music noise till well after 00:30 AM. The car headed in the direction of Palermo and we found this lovely, quite untouristic fishermen village Porticello. We like to stay away from other tourists spots as much as we can usually. We called Stenopus Greco and about half an hour later we checked in the front room at the friendly discounted price (still low season). Hassle free check-in, we didn't see anybody during our 1 night stay. The owner was so kind to bring us (shouting down from our balcony) in contact with the owner of the restaurant below, restaurant Kantuccio. The owner gave us a plastic bag of shrimps (for free) to go fishing in the harbour. I will write a review about that place as it was the probably the best food we had in the 9 days Sicily. Fantastic fresh catch of the day, amazing wine. Pro's: - our front room was ok with a great view on the fisher boats coming back with the fresh fish. Loved the smell of the sea, loved the little balcony. - rooms had items in it of over 300 years. Very beautiful, but not handy. - great sunrise over the harbour! - pragmatic no-nonsense owner, friendly, & discrete (aka mostly absent). Con's: - it wasn't our style of bed nor shower. Somehow, we didn't have water early morning but a tad later after we had packed the water was running. For sure, this is not standard, I suspect normally everything works fine. - we probably wouldn't stay at Greco for more then 1 or 2 days. But we wouldn't complain for this price, and especially views, it was a pleasure to stay just for a single night. As we had a good last minute discounted rate which was for sure not the usual high season rate, it is difficult to say value for money wise where Stenopus stands.

The owner was very eager to welcome us and to share with us his philosophy and view of things. This made us feel all the more welcome and at home. View from the apartment with the terrace was breathtaking: unforgettable sunrise over the Porticello port. Wonderful seeing fishermen and people active at all hours of the day (and night) while being cozy, quiet and in full privacy. Though the owner made himself very available to satisfy our needs and requests, he was extremely discreet and nonobtrusive. A beautiful "home-away-from-home" experience!

Ask for the top floor room if possible for the best view and the expansive balcony. Perfect for dawn sun bathing. Close to all the cafes and restaurants, this quaint hotel is a dream come true. All the amenities and none of the fuss.

For us Santa Flavia was the perfect place to stay in between Palermo and Termini Imerese. The village is very authentic and we enjoyed seeing the fishermen come in, selling fresh fish directly from their boats. Santa Flavia / Porticello is calm, but comes to life at night, when families come out for a stroll and a late dinner. Watching them and their playing children on the pretty square with palmtrees from our large terrace was lovely and we would definately recommend staying here.

We stayed at Stenopus Greco in mid July 2017, my girlfriend and two of my family, in two rooms facing the sea. Wanted to have a quiet base without few people around while visiting Sicily for the first time. It was a mistake. Rooms were well cleaned every day, cleaning staff friendly and helpful. Air conditioning was fully customizable and worked fine, cooled the room down quickly. Very spacious rooms, colourfully decorated, with some vintage elements. Only one large double bed, no twin room option, so you would have to sleep together if you travel with friends or family, sofa is too small to serve as a real bed. The owner was quick to react to requests such as additional bed linen or broken handle in the bathroom. We stayed on the third, paid extra for sea view (Anna Maria room) and there was strong smell of gas: - owner called inspection who did not find leaks, smell however persisted during our whole stay (11 days); - his advise was to "close all windows, switch airco on, keep corridor door open" which we found unconstructive and not solving the problem; - we pointed out that this was not acceptable and wanted to find a solution, he angrily replied that "this is not the problem of the hotel, this is your problem"; - our testing showed hot water boiler under balcony produced gas whenever hot water was used, had to keep windows sealed, corridor door open during whole stay; - used balcony to dry clothes only, had to keep it closed and never sit there due to gas, restaurants smell and noise. Google maps somewhat incorrectly identify the location, the hotel is in fact right above three large always crowded restaurants producing lots of fried food smells and noise. There was no drinking water in the fridge (free mineral water promised on the website) except for the day of our arrival when there was one small 0.5l bottle. Tiny shower was very small even for a thin person. Dated shower equipment, tape was used to pull parts together, vaseline to cover wholes. Extremely dirty town, sea polluted with oil (!) clearly seen on sea water while swiming, black oil stains on the abandoned beach nearby. Tiny dirty beach nearby overcrowded by locals, other beaches (several KMs by car) very dirty and overcrowded too, had to go 50 KMs away by trains every day.

The owner is the most rudest, uncompromising person I have ever come across. I booked the room from 14th August – 21st August for a family holiday. Minutes after I booked my room, my family said they couldn’t come on those dates because of urgent work commitments with the royal navy. I let the owner know I had made a mistake and needed to temporarily cancel the booking. Every time I called he kept hanging up on me. I even said he could take £50.00 for the cancellation. Instead he insisted that there was a no-refund policy and I would not be getting the £346 back. I would completely understand if this was 24 hour before the arrival date or even 2 weeks before. But 2 MONTHS before??? And I called literally straight away to cancel. They obviously do not understand how business works and the fact that I had 6 other family members that would also be booking at the same hotel eventually. Well of course I have advised my family members NOT to stay here and they will be staying in a different hotel. This attitude hints to me that they don’t get much business during a PEAK season in Italy otherwise they wouldn’t be so uncompromising. I have decided in this case not to waste my money and I will be going to this hotel on 14th – 21st August. I’m very much looking forward to writing a detailed review on every aspect of the hotel upon my return.

Dear lady, I wanted to remind you that you made a non-refundable expedia reservation if you had any doubts you could have made a standard rate booking where you are allowed to cancel at any time at no cost, before doing anything you have to read what are the rules and Inquire, to avoid inconveniences of this kind. She called after a few hours, not minutes, when the non-refundable payment and the tax receipt had already been made, I explained to her and her husband that on the phone he swore me, the methods adopted by her husband are British methods , In Italy we are careful not to mistake the words, in fact all incoming receipts will be reported to the police force if you or her husband intend to intimidate you thought wrong when you will be happy to present my lawyer with a lawsuit Defamation and outrage, and with a claim for damages for the image corruption that you are creating with your ignorant how much unmotivated review here on tripadvisor, you are wrong !!! But your arrogance does not allow you to reason civilly the rules must be respected, many times I immediately canceled at the last moment, without saying anything I accepted the cancellation !!!! I guarantee her when she will find bread for her teeth, People who work seriously, and reviews that are confirmed, respected, do not hurt as you have offended, both the Expedia menagers, with whom I have spoken and will be happy to confirm how you behaved, I will take you here Italy in front of a judge, you can be sure of this !!! Even the various menagers tried to explain to you what I had previously tried to explain to you, you never allowed me to call me rude, I stop with your arrogance from an incurable and rude person, I recommend an intensive course to dominate anger.

We booked a room with balcony and a corner with kitchen equipement, but besides the regular room we didn't get any of this. The owner explained that all the other 3 rooms (with balcony and stuff) are already booked. So probably or hopefully it was just a technical problem, because they didn't mention the differences between the rooms on hotels.com. But despite that we had to pay the regular price even if we just chose this hotel because of the view and the cooking possibility.

dear customer has gone exactly as she suggested, as well, having only 3 of 8 stanse sea sometimes you do not have them available, but I assure you that when I available are the first rooms that I provide, my clients like always give your best not to be different from the other rooms, they look like a little 'all but the sea view is breathtaking and I hope to get it back if you will book early enough promise you will have the sea view, with respect to the kitchenette if he mentioned the 'interest in cooking would have given instructions to mount our kitchenette, not everyone is interested and when someone needs to cook I prepare it at the time, I'll try to be more careful and try to better understand those who want it. Thanks, see you soon. Sincerely Stenopus
