Detailed Reviews
Everybody has to understand that you are not traveling to a 5-Star Bali destination. This is Papua and you are a visitor in a different country. Get a bit information before you make your way down to Wamena, it helps.
Hotel Nayak is great. Staff is helpful and looking after you. Breakfast is good with good choice of different things. We left our bags in the hotel when we went trekking and the owner even dropped us of at the airport for free.

Simple and clean accommodation, conveniently close to the airport and the centre of Wamena. If you have an early flight, it's the perfect place to stay. The owners speak great English and are kind and helpful. The rooms are simple but sufficient. They could do with mosquito nets but burning mosquito coils helped. Also, one of the staff came in the evening and offered to spray our room.
There is no fan or A/C but there's really no need for it - it gets cold at night.
The breakfast is ok - bread with jam and a cake plus coffee or tea.

It's hard to have any high expectation in Wamena.
This hotel is walking distance from the center of the city but not exactly in the middle so you're in a "quiet" area. Not so quiet though as airport is very near so you hear planes taking off or landing.
Owner is nice person. Breakfast is not too bad.
There is Wi-Fi.
Room is not too bad. I'm just concerned about cleanliness of blankets.
There is hot water which is rare in Papua.

It's an old hotel, owned by a Chinese Papuan family. I has around 20 rooms. It has no air conditioner but Wamena's temperature is cool. It's around 18 Celsius at night. It's very close to the airport. They seem to have a problem with the local government which wants to expand the airport. I stayed here twice. The first one was in mid 1990s. It does not change much. Breakfast is bread and butter.

You can not and should not expect much from accomodation in Wamena. After all it is a little town in the middle of nowwhere. Hotel Nayak is good location wise: It is directly at the airport which is especially good when leaving Wamena as flights leave early and are often postponed - then you can just go back to the hotel. This of course means on the other hand that it is extremely loud. The street infront of the aurport (between the Airport and the Hotel) is closed for traffic, but at night motorbikes illegally race each other there-really loud! if you wanna get some sleep- take on of the more expensive rooms in the back.
As to hot water- with room rates of 300/400 thousand Rupiah I expect at least hot water, even in Wamena because that is a lot of money in Indonesia. I've stayed there three nights- and didnt have hot water once, regardless of countless complaints and showering in other rooms. After trekking in the valley with no shower at all- believe me you will want a hot shower. Mine was on occasion ice cold or sometimes a little warmer - but on no occasion warm enough to even draw a baby bath.
At night they have Wifi in the lobby, which we were told in the beginning there isnt any. But they dont tell you the password.
Also in three different rooms we each time had a huge cockroach. So if you are not up for that- go to Baliam Pilamo Hotel. A good option also close to the Airport is Anggerek Hotel- just walk past Hotel Nayak and at the end of the road turn left, there it is. I havent been inside but they do have strong Wifi because I got their Signal in Hotel Nayak sometimes.

Wamena is in general an expensive place, no road connections to coast, everything transported by planes. If you search for something well located and fairly cheap, Nayak is a reasonable choice. It is located 200m from the airport "terminal" (which didn't even have any security checks working when we flew in or out!) - after leaving it turn right and walk few minutes along the airport fence, you don't need a taxi. Standard twin room costed already 300 000 IDR as of May 2015. For this price you get very basic place, with paper thin walls (you can hear all your neighbours talking), no WiFi, no A/C or fan (fortunately not that important in cool Wamena climate), breakfast consisting of white bread, marmolade and bananas, reception deserted most of the time and so on (but at least hot water in shower). In other parts of Indonesia one can get much better hotel for lower price - but in Wamena everything more comfortable is very expensive, so for budget travellers Nayak is still a good option.
Also, we met there, hanging around reception, a very nice and helpful tour guide (Martinus Siep), who lead us to "Jiwika mummy", caves and nice walk on the next day, worth to use his services.

I've stayed in this hotel twice. They have two kinds of room. First, I stayed in Superior Room (price 350.000 Rupiah) with double bed, a bit far from lobby & receptionist. Second, I stayed in Standart Room (price 250.000 Rupiah) also with double bed, this room have unique style, the wall is made from recycle container's truck. Any room price is include free standard breakfast like bread, fruit jam, butter, snacks, fruits, tea, and coffee. Both rooms have private bathroom with shower and hot water, but to use hot water you need to turn on the water then wait about 2-5 minutes :)
They don't have restaurant but in the same building behind the hotel near Superior Room, there is small warung (cafe), they are not open 24 hours but if they already close you can knock their door then they will serve you with what they have from the kitchen :)
The location is straightly in front of Wamena's Airport. The noisy from airplanes traffic maybe disturb you in the morning till afternoon but I still will recommend this hotel especially if you have plan for another trip with airplane and have morning flight, cause usually the flight delayed. For this special case, ask hotel receptionist to save your backpacks or luggages, go to the airport for check in, then back to hotel, enjoy your breakfast until you see from the hotel lobby when your airplane already landing. Don't hesitate to ask to the receptionist cause she will treat you like a friend.

Very good, big, clean hotel, walking distance to the airport. The rooms are quite spacey and the breakfast is good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I recommend for a short or long stay in Wamena.

- Close to the airport
- Rooms for 300.000 IDR to airport front and street, so noisy, but hot water
- Rooms for 400.000 IDR on back floor, quite, but hot water does not work. We took a shower in the other rooms.
- staff so so
- breakfast included (not toasted toast, jam and coffee)
- sometimes WIFI, but extremely slow. For checking WhatsApp, etc. Ok.
- we got a guide from them, Wendy. I can warmly recommend him. We did 4 days trekking to the south and 1 day in the north
