Well as I wrote the title I remembered sleeping on three hard airport terminal chairs - not pleasant but it was free; not like Gansomuro which cost me 20,000 Yen for me, my son and age 9 grandson (no reduction for kids) to stay for a few hours - from 7pm to 3 am when we started the last element...

I'm not a small person, so this review may be skewed. But first, let me say that the place is fine for what it is: a place to get out of the cold and rest the night 10,000 feet up on the side of Mt Fuji. For one price, they let you stay, for a higher fee, they feed you...

This was a very cosy little mountain hut. The staff was welcoming to us as we arrived at 8pm, and was able to still give us some hot dinner. We had pre-arranged to have dinner at the hut on arrival, and the curry was excellent. The hot tea was also delicious. The sleeping area is bunks with sleeping bags laid...

Good points: very friendly staff who greeted us warmly and we had nice chat, place is clean, warm, well organized. Yes it is basic but it delivers all it promises and hey, it is a mountain hut! Also, it is located closer to the top than most huts so you have less walk to do the next day. Tips: Bring...

When you're climbing a mountain you shouldn't expect stopping at a hotel, but we were expecting at least some hospitality, which the staff doesn't really live up too. Especially as we booked the place without any meals, the people there acted like we're invading their space or something. Also, selling instant noodles for 600 yen when you could normally get...

Gansomuro was a good choice of mountain hut. Be aware, there is definitely no English spoken here. We had to book by phone in Japanese from Australia before we left. On arrival the staff explained everything in Japanese. However, they understood how to speak simply to gaijin with limited language and ensured we understood everything. These mountain huts are not...

When you climb mountain fuji you do not expect your mountain hut to be 4 star hotel. You expect a simple, clean, well organized hut that can handle 300 people in limited space. The team at Gansomuro is doing exactly that. We had reserved at Gansomuro for one night with the help of a Japanese friend. The phone number we...

We stayed there with a group because all other mountain huts were already booked. But we were really surprised to experience such a bad non-Japanese style place: - staff is rude and greedy - no hangers for your wet cloth - no possibility even to wash hand and teeth (the only tab was disassembled) - heating / fire was turned...
