The family raises cattle, fish and guests are treated to meals made from natural products. How to get to and from the guesthouse: by public transport - the stop 5-minute walk to/from the guesthouse (each driver knows where to stop);by car - through the bridge. The farm is conveniently located for trekking. Tirebi Guesthouse was our only local stop on a 10 day trip through Georgia. We wanted a local vibe for at least one night and Tirebi house did not disappoint. We arrived after seeing the caves in Vardzia - this guesthouse is about a 10 minute drive from there. On your way to or from, don't forget to take notice of the fortress high up on the one of the hills. The photos on google are not correct (I don't think you can visit it, just take some pics from the side of the highway). The family you will stay with here is a lovely family, mum, dad, daughter and son, who's family has been living here for generations. Mum and daughter are the ones who cook your dinner and breakfast. Mum was delighted to show us a section of a cookbook that they were featured in. She will serve you food whenever you tell her when you'd like to have it, which takes place in their dining room on a long communal table with whichever other guests are eating at the same time as you. Dinner was made up of some delicious pickled sprouts, coleslaw, cabbage salad, fresh sliced tomatoes, home-made fries, home-made cheese, a bean stew, a chicken dish in sauce, served with home-made ketchup and bread. The family has a farm off-site which they source all of the ingredients from. Having come from London, we brought them a package of Walker's Shortbread cookies, which the whole family appreciated, so do bring them a gift from your country. As you will read in other reviews of this property, mum and dad's english is nearly non-existent but you can definitely get by on the important things like dinner times and general appreciation can be communicated through gestures. The daughter understands more english than she speaks, but the son Georgie speaks more english than most people we encountered during our 10 day trip through Georgia. He is a delight. He personally runs a horse back riding service for tourists, which he recently won a grant from the government for that has allowed him to purchase new saddles and helmets - and he's only 17! If you're interested in going for a pleasant horse ride through the mountains, do it with him. Unfortunately we didn't have time left to do so, but he offered us to go at 40 GEL per person. He is wonderful to talk to and has some interesting stories about growing up in Vardzia. He knows loads of business people in the neighbourhood, so if you're looking for places to eat around the caves, definitely ask him. Breakfast is served at whatever time you wish. We got a delicious thin version of Kachipuri, home-made yogurt served with cherry compote (amazing), warm oats, bread with home-made butter. Although this is the only guest house I have ever stayed at in my entire life, I would recommend it. I really didn't know what to expect (so was kind of expecting the worst), and thanks to these guys, I would definitely do it again. Everyone in the family was so nice and gave us really genuine goodbyes. I was there only two days ago and I miss them already!!!!

I had a chance to visit many hotels and other places to stay in Georgia and that was one of the best. The place has very nice location - close to Vardzia. When you wake up in the morning and sit outside the room having morning coffee or tea - view would be amasing, Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. Very good Georgian food. Well functioning WIFI.

Our room was very nice and had all we needed. The location is also very good. Quit street and very close to the city center. Coffee, tea, sweets and fruit were offered at all times. The best of all is the warm hospitality of the landlady Sophia. Nothing was asked too much. When I had a soar throat, she even offered me her last honey.

We met the owners' son, Guiorgi, as we were visiting Vanis kvabebi. He told us a lot about the history of the place. He then took us to his guest house where his mother gave us delicious free food as a gift (homemade cheese, fresh milk, salad with juicy organic tomatoes - the best we ever had). We saw the rooms, they seemed pretty clean and cozy. We really wish we had stayed there, with Guiogi giving us a tour of the surroundings - but unfortunately, we had already booked a room at another guesthouse.

Cons: The owner does not speak any English (opposed to what's written in description). Everything was fine until the morning. We ordered the breakfast for 8:00, but nobody came to the kitchen until 8:40. Another issue was when it came to payment. In the evening we agreed on a breakfast for 10 GEL a person (I had 3 witnesses), but in the morning the owner insisted that he said 13GEL/person (already holding my 50 bill). Since he doesn't speak English, we just let it be. Also the breakfast for another group sitting right next to us was more rich with eggs, etc. 13 GEL for some buckwheat and yogurt is a little bit too much... Pros: Close to Vardzia complex, just by the road at a peaceful site (not in the town). Our room had a private bathroom.

This guesthouse is a gem, and by far the best place to stay to explore the region. It is ideally placed at the foot of Tmogvi Castle with fantastic views across the Mtkvari. Sergo and his family are friendly and extremely knowledgable about the area, they also produce almost all the food you will eat themselves. Son Gio speaks good English and can guide you to the local sites Most people will come here to visit Vardzia, but there is so much more to explore, including the alpine pastures of Zeda Tmogvi, Vanis Kvavebi, Kamurdo church (all of which you can hike to), Saro megalithic complex and more.

A lovely family guesthouse situated in a secluded place just 15 minutes drive from Vardzia. The family were all so lovely and made me feel very welcome, and safe! (I was a bit worried about being female and travelling alone). Sergo took me and the other guests on a great tour of Vardzia when we arrived and then we sat down to a delicious feast ALL compiled from fresh/homemade ingredients - cheese, meat, wine, you name it. The room was clean, towels provided and a thick quilt (it can get cold there). Sergo speaks Russian and Georgian but no English, however his young son is a pretty decent translator.

Sergo, Marina and their kids (and the grandfather) are one lovely family. Staying in their house was one of the best experiences in Georgia, for various reasons: * All of them are really really sweet and caring. And that woman can cook!!! The homemade food was amazing. * their house is in a valley, you are surrounded by tranquil nature, animals and nothing else. Apparently Sergo is building a second house up by the road, but we were lucky to stay with them on the farm. * the rooms are simple, but very clean. * amazingly, there is wifi:) * The son speaks good english, Sergo some little german and Marina a little english, but using your hands and feet goes a long way. We strongly recommend staying with them and I'd go back anytime.

We were recommended this guesthouse from one of our friends who's lived in Georgia for >5 years and knows a lot about the country, and we're so happy we were able to fit in a 2-night stay here. It's a bit tricky to get to, but there are signs for it on the way to Vardzia monastery, so the taxi/marshutka can let you off on the way. The rooms and bedrooms were very clean, and the farm was such a pleasant place to be. It's also right on the river and there are several beautiful hikes to keep you occupied for several days. We hiked up to Tmogvi fortress in ~30-45 minutes and then there's a trail down the other side that goes to Vardzia and other walking trails from there to the surrounding landmarks. Their dog Lassi even came with us all the way on our 9-hour hike, which was nice company, and Marina packed us a lunch to take on the way. The owners were very pleasant, especially Marina, who made all of our delicious meals. The soups and chicken dishes she made were amazing, and all of the dairy products were incredible...fresh milk in the morning, lots of cheese, butter. It was 50GEL/person/night for full room+board, which we definitely thought was worth it. Sergo even drove us on our last morning about 45 minutes to a town to catch the marshutka to Yerevan, which was great, but unfortunately, we missed it and had to get a shared taxi instead, which was okay, but then he ended up charging a little bit more than expected for the one-way ride. We'd recommend working out a price with him beforehand. Otherwise, our experience was terrific and we highly recommend a stay here! Very little English is spoken at their house, but it didn't end up being too much of a problem, and Georgi was able to help with clearing up any questions.
