We arrived at Somar Surfcamp thinking that it actually was a surfcamp, but it had nothing to do with it. They only had one surfboard there when we came, but we wanted to rent 3. Neither could they tell us anything about the spot. After a long while they managed to organize 2 more boards which were not at all... More

I had suddenly been elected as tour leader of a group of 24 people, and found Somar on hotels.com. The rooms were among the cheapest on the beach so we went for it. I booked what I thought to be enough rooms, and we set off for Salinas Grandes. When we arrived, Diego, the project manager, seemed confused for two... More

Excellent hosts! Very personable and accommodating. They welcomed us to come early before the room became available. We napped in the hammocks and enjoyed the swimming pool. The kitchen serves delicious and healthy food, breakfast, lunch and dinner, prepared by doña Juanita. Weather was great and covered porch areas provided shaded areas. Paco the parrot and the dogs, Orus and... More

I went there with my family for the day on a Sunday. We would have stayed for the night, if I didn't have to go to work the next day. The place is amazing and it has a jacuzzi right next to the beach. We got in it at the end of the day to watch the sunset relaxing in... More

The beach is absolutely deserted, and the waves are awesome/big. The kitchen was attentively on-call to turn out Gallo Pinto, a variety of foods, and drinks for the few guests that were there. We spent our time resting in hammocks, in the pool, and getting great sleep in clean, air-conditioned rooms. This place would be a great get-away from Leon,... More

On recommendation of friends in the area we stayed here an were truly disappointed. Rooms were nice. Location just ok, nothing close by to get supplies or walk to see. Which made it hard to find the food supplies we needed to purchase in order to have the staff prepare for us. There was nothing available from the menu and... More

I recently stayed at Somar Lodge for about 3 weeks while doing some business in the area. The owners are wonderful people and went above and beyond any expectations. Assistance with logistics and helping with the language was very appreciated. The facilities are good and will be getting even better soon as the lodge continues to develop. The pool is... More
