This very busy pub also has a separate dining room and maybe ten bedrooms. It's a walker's paradise. The food is typical of the area - big helpings, emphasis on frying - but still good, particularly breakfast. With an extrovert landlady and landlord, things get noisy, but this is THE watering hole in Grassington, so you should expect a bit...

Good points: Excellent bar/restaurant staff, all very hardworking, friendly and helpful. Breakfast good, evening meal good. Reasonably comfortable bed, plentiful hot water, large bath towels. Good location in centre of village. Bad points: Decor is tired, especially staircase and landing areas which are very shabby (worn, stained carpet, yellowing paintwork). Bedroom and bathroom small. Breakfast tea very slow to arrive...

This place won't be winning any prizes for its décor or rooms, but it could for its staff. Friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was adequate; tired and a little small, but comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. The pub itself is traditional style, apart from the TVs! The food was great, I ate from the Light bite menu...

Staying locally elsewhere for our walking weekend, we were advised that this was the place to be in Grassington on a Saturday night. The band were great (especially the sax), the staff were brilliant and the locals REALLY know how to have a good time! Great fun - thank you!

We had a great time, every member of staff was really friendly. Beware those staying here and going to Wharfedale Rugby club, there is a lack of taxis in the area and it's about 2 miles to the club from here, and it's up hill on the way back. Thankfully the landlady, Rita, offered to give us a lift over...

I would agree with Maggie C in her review. The positives are the staff, the eggs at breakfast and the location. Everything else is poor. Our room was tiny, grubby and dilapidated especially the bathroom. Carpets are worn and dirty and everywhere needs redecorating. We were on the top floor and couldn't get any hot water. It's all done on...

Popped in for light lunch, we all had home roast pork/ham sandwich and home cooked chips, it was fantastic and good value, it was the 40s weekend and even though the staff were very busy Gentle was super nice, helpful and friendly, well worth a visit

My husband wanted to watch a football match while having a drink and although there was another major football match on in another part of the bar, the staff went out of their way to set up another television for my husband (and one other individual) to watch. I did not want to watch the match or have an alcoholic...

Two couples stated here for one night. We are unanimous in our judgements; Excellent staff who did their best to give us good service and attention - they actually deserve 5 stars! Luxurious towels However the accommodation itself; Tired Shabby Dated Dirty in parts Dilapidated furniture Appliances that would certainly fail a PAT test Poor value for money - we...

We called in on July 12th for a bar lunch. The pub was quiet (it was only about 1230) and the staff were cheerful and welcoming. We ordered our food, a tomato soup and a tuna sandwich for my wife and a fish pie with vegetables for me. The food was quite disappointing: the soup was good (though it was...
