A gem of a place. The staff were lovely, from reception to restaurant. Restaurant, room and bathroom were delightful. Unfortunately we had to miss breakfast as it doesn't start until 8.15 on weekends!! so if you have to leave early as we did, no breakfast! Shame. Otherwise would have been perfect.

What a fantastic hotel with amazing history. The staff were all extremely welcoming and I really hope to stay here again in the future. Seeing the booking wasn't placed too far in advance and it was the last room available in the hotel. This was a surprise for my girlfriend and we were in fact both surprised when shown our... More

We had the best time in this amazing hotel. Quiet and peaceful all around, the rooms have a lot of character and are super romantic. We booked the deluxe room and we just loved it. Bed super comfy, lots of space, great bathroom and Neal's Yard bath products. We'll go back for more!

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Moonraker with our 16 week old working cocker puppy, booked through petspyjamas . It was the first time we'd been away with her so it was lovely to stay somewhere truly dog friendly - the room (8) opened straight outside and was opposite the doors to the restaurant. The... More

Stayed here for just one night and so glad we did. A lovely place not far from Bath which we had visited that day. Staff friendly and welcoming, including some very nice flapjack on arrival. Our rooms were in the main house upstairs. The building is old and full of character. Our rooms were knitted out with old fashioned furniture... More

My daughters and I really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. We had been to Bath in the day and were going to Longleat the next so needed a hotel for one night. The vintage feel of the rooms at the Moonraker was wonderful. Decorated and fitted out with old fashioned furniture was just lovely. The rooms were warm... More

Well....all is not quite what it seems to be here...all looks good and reads well in the reviews but something is missing! We arrived for a 2 night gourmet dog lovers weekend which promised many things! First impressions were that it all looked a bit tired and un cared for, the carpark and initial gardens were messy and over grown,... More

We stayed here for one night and what a lovely place, could quite happily have stayed for longer! We had room 1 which was a 4 poster room... As with all places there are pro's and cons.... Cons for the room, could have had a bit more milk in the room for the tea's and coffees and the shower in... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Moonraker hotel, a grade 2 listed 21 bedrooms Manor house situated on the outskirts of Bradford on Avon/ Trowbridge and a 15 minute drive from the Bath Spa. Mentioned in the Domesday book as being part of the Abbess of Glastonbury's estate, the Manor house was originally build in Queen Ann Style before being upgraded in the 17th century to Bath stone. Purchased by Tudor & Lucy Hopkins in July 2013 the hotel has undergone a full refurbishment including transforming the restaurant into a relaxed informal dining space. Head Chef Matthew Briddon (River cafe, Paul Heathcotes) joined the team in September 2013 and has created menus around the hotels kitchen garden and onsite smokery. Nine bee hives provide the hotel honey and rare breed pigs live on the grounds. Kathy Lette (writer and author) stayed at The Old Manor and wrote an article for the Express where she said: 'The bedrooms, with their four poster beds and wide wooden roof beams, are so Jane Austen-esque I kept expecting Mr Darcy to get down on bended knee' The Moonraker oozes old world charm and is a relaxed cotsworld escape with some of the UK's top attractions on its doorstep. ... more   less
