We have just returned from a lovely weekend at The Castle Hotel. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was really nice as was dinner and the hotel was well placed for great walks. All in all good value for money.

Just got home from our second visit to this hotel and it's hard to find fault. My wife and I stayed for two nights with our Labrador dog. We were allocated Room 1 which was lovely and spacious with TV, filtered water, coffee, tea biscuits. Very clean. Not much of a view from this room but that didn't bother us...

Very comfortable hotel. Everyone very friendly. It is the most dog friendly place we have ever stayed. The eggs benedict for breakfast were the best I have had. Will definitely be visiting again very soon.

Small 'Olde Worlde' hotel, but with modern comfortable en suite bedrooms. Excellent service, could not fault the food, nor oak panelled dining room. Rooms very quiet at night, except for slight 'creaking' of beds, which did not spoil sleep !! 'Dog friendly', so don't visit if you object to dogs.

We stayed as a group of 2 couples and one single with a small dog. This was an overnight stop to break our journey. Everything was wonderful. The bedrooms were beautiful and well equipped. Our little dog was made very welcome and our dinner in the bar was lovely. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Dropped in yesterday looking for a table for 5 ... Everywhere very busy! Managed to get a table for 3 and another for 2. Lovely atmosphere, good food very good staff and extremely efficient! Such a lovely surprise to get all four attributes! I'd resigned myself to one out of four lately! I'd not been here before as normally head...

We stayed here recently as attending a wedding nearby. Quick tip if you're not local and don't have a car- you must try and book taxis in advance! We arrived at the closest train station like typical city dwellers expecting a taxi rank and were sadly mistaken-eventually got a taxi after over 45 mins! Now, onto the hotel.. Friendly helpful...

We stayed for two nights taking advantage of a midweek deal that included bed, breakfast and a three course meal. We stayed in a superior double with a bath and en-suite bathroom. The room was lovely. The food was delicious with hearty portions. The town is pretty and quirky with two breweries. Excellent! The surrounding villages, towns and countryside have...

We have visited the Castle Hotel many times in the past few years for lunch and drinks as we have relatives in the town, but this was the first time that we have stayed overnight. As usual the welcome, the food and of course the drinks were first class. The room (9) was very nicely decorated, well fitted out, and...
