Detailed Reviews
The hotel is very old and furniture is very old,not vintage just old. but lovely, the location is on the beach, staff very helpful.breakfast in the garden with the singing birds was unique...
The downside,we paid 120eur for a upgraded room, which was in real need of TLC.
The pillows were so old and lumpy, the old doors didn't fit very well, for 70eur it is acceptable, but to pay a 40 eur upgrade on top was totally inflated, even though we had a juliette balcony..

I booked this hotel purely on price, all I wanted was a bed for a few hours.
What a surprise the place was fantastic, superb service all the the staff could not have been more helpful.
My room/apartment was just outside the main building, I could not have asked for anything better. The main hotel building was beautiful lots of old world charm, this was the way Spanish gentry lived.
Restaurant was superb, I had the chicken stuffed with mushroom and wrapped in bacon came with spinach and boiled potato, Bloody Superb.

A beauty that is a bit dated but with a lot of character and charm.
Bed good, shower not perfect, spacious room.
We got free parking on the hotel area (limited space, but this was off season).
Checkin and out took a bit time with manual routines.

What a disappointment meal, fish cold in the middle, chicken tuff, un appetising, all served by very curmpy waitress who could not be bothered, even the coffee were cold. So disappointed we were there in April and had a lovley meal. So sorry to write this.

Where to start! Check in person was miserable, rooms were disgusting, no disabled access to rooms, toilet paper in dispenser at a minimum nowhere to put any toiletries in bathroom, wallpaper falling off the walls, only one small pillow each, no aircon thankfully we didn’t need it. I accept it has a certain amount of charm and the food was good but the service is terrible. We sat there waiting to order breakfast for so long that we left and ate somewhere else. These rooms desperately need upgrading and the waiting staff need help. I wouldn’t stay here again for free!

The Hotel is a historical gem of 120 years, the central courtyard is beautiful and the whole building is amazing. My room was nice, tall ceilings!! very clean, white sheets. No aircon, which l hate, so l was pleased. They give you sleepers, water, facilities to do coffee and tea, and the use of a fridge. More than most hotels and breakfast is included. A la carte, so you can have whatever you want.
The location is second to none, right on the beach, so you have your breakfast with views of mar menor. If you are a guest, use of sunbeds is included. I had dinner there too and it was absolutely superb. High quality. Excellent sangria too. Staff is helpful and friendly. Can't recommend enough.

Visited this establishment with my family as an over night stay family room. This is obviously a “protected “ building with many original features in place.however the experience was not as I would have expected. The room was on initial inspection a nice surprise, however upon closer looks it was a bit disappointing. There was no air-con and the ensuite was a bit snug. We had a room with a fantastic view of the sea, but the enjoyment was short lived come the night. The terrace below us became a disco which didn’t stop until 2am! Although not overly loud, it was loud enough to keep us awake. The plan to have the windows open over night was not an option.Restaurant staff were great and very attentive. Receptionist was a bit short on customer service skills, a bit abrupt upon checking in.

Views absolutely amazing, room I would describe as basic, however you are paying for location/views/ambience. The hotel dates from early 1900, with little in terms of upgrades since. There is no aircon, fans are supplied, parking can be a challenge. The restaurant food is amazing, I can’t recommend enough. Overall very happy with our experience.

Stayed for 7 nights at Hotel La Encarnacion. Beautiful location, real old world Hotel, with lovely staff.
However, weather was very hot and there was no aircon in the bedrooms. A free standing fan was provided but very ineffective. Windows could not be left open at night because of the mosquitos. Very uncomfortable.
People with mobility issues need to be aware that there is no lift.
Parking a major issue this time of year as there is no designated parking, a few small spots on the streets nearby but hard to get one.

If you are looking for an old, historic hotel, look no further! This hotel was opened in 1904 and gives you the impression nothing much has been improved since!
However the location is stunning right on the beach.
However one serious warning, free parking in the town is extremely hard to find. Make sure you include parking in your reservation. Also the roads in the town are narrow and it's a complex one way system. Make sure your GPS is up to date and be prepared for diversions as delivery drivers appear to routinely park in the middle of narrow streets and don't seem to have urgency to move?
All in all we enjoyed our short stay and the hotel has more pluses than minuses!

There are a few places at the entrance to the Hotel and a small free car park a few minutes away on Calle del Aire.
