We have never stayed in a Relais Chateaux hotel before because we always had the impression that they were a bit "outdated". However my husband received a gift voucher for a stay at one of them and since we love Tuscany, we chose Il Borro. The website looked great but as is the case sometimes, reality can be a bit... We are a group of 4 friends who just stayed at Il Borro for 6 nights in Oct. 2014. It was a groupon trip that included airfare, car rental and hotels for 9 nights. Il Borro was very difficult to find--twice people literally drove us to there and we followed them. We stayed at the farmhouse which has its own... More

Our party of four had a wonderful Tuscan experience at IlBorro. We stayed in a farmhouse apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and large living room and kitchen. All appointments were excellent. Our garden included a beautiful pool and manicured grounds. The restaurants were first rate as was the beautiful 15th century village of IlBorro. The staff were on... More

We have just spent a week at the Villa Malagnino in the village. Total relaxation in a large two bedroom villa with a large modern kitchen and sitting area. We were only two but the villa is most advantageous for two couples. We had a car rental,so,we were able to tour the area and cities like Arezzo, Siena and of... More

Il Borro really is an experience. We stayed with our 2 young children, and were provided with a great stay. Staff are all very welcoming, great service. We stayed in the Casa al Piano farmhouse, which is 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and is comfortable, well equipped, clean and spacious. We had access to beautifully manicured grounds and a pool, which... Stayed for 6 nights in the medieval village. Great place to relax and just get away. Great stay in the farmhouse. Beautiful vistas. I must say that Diego in the medieval village reception office took such great care of us, he truly enhanced our experience at il Borro. Overall great time.

This place is just breathtaking and the staff is wonderful! I highly recommend it. (A note, for those considering staying at the Poggio Piano farmhouse, it is 1.5 miles from the main Il Borro area and Vincafe, but quite walkable.)

Many of us look forward to a trip to Tuscany with high expectations. Reality? Even for the young and fit, trekking up to the hill towns is physically exhausting, especially in summer. Our girls' trip antidote: A home for us in Italy which embraced us and left us fulfilled. The comforts are likened to a river cruise: unpacking once in... More

Beautiful place, a bit hard to find, but fantastic surroundings and everything is quite fancy. Do not expect to find anything specific from Salvatore Ferragamo; there is nothing. No shop, no amenities, nothing. But the place is luxurious, relaxing and nice. Value for money? Well.... it depends on your expectations, I guess.

This place is a gem ... The old 16th century village , the villa , the pools and the restaurants were simply beautiful ! The winery is also good . The staff quite helpful and the rooms spacious and decorated with a lot of taste .. It resumes all what Tuscany has to offer .

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Telling its stories, a place becomes part of those stories. The legend takes on a life beyond the place and becomes timeless. The origins of the village of Il Borro are lost in the history of medieval Tuscany and the famous people who established the reputation of the region. Every alley, every stone speaks of a time that once was, of flavours and scents that recall the memory of a rare and more authentic Tuscany.Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, in the shadow of the cypress trees of the ancient Via dei Sette Ponti, (an area rich in art and culture between the three main cities of Tuscany Florence, Arezzo and Siena), Il Borro is an open window on history, a fresco to a far away world. The Medici dynasty, the Savoia family and now the Ferragamo family have safeguarded and preserved this precious oasis, making this place, suspended between past and present, a sanctuary dedicated to wellbeing and the art of hospitality. You are welcome - one thousand years of history are waiting for you! ... more   less
