Stumbled on this venue for shear value for money. Character place indeed. Room 1 we stayed in, cosy with wall panelling, one of the oldest parts of the place. Shower very small though. Food and drinks reasonably priced and tasty. Missed the fire a bit, but it was very quiet. Nice village too.

Dear spamobile Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, Room 1 has quite the story attached to it and retrofitting showers into the building must have given our planners some headaches when the conversion work was done. Apologies you missed our warming log burning stoves as it compliments the ambience greatly....

Lovely hostel. Great room on the top floor (room 13?), it is a self contained space with living area and bathroom. Lovely. My only complaint would be that on occasion the fire has not been working properly (either smoky or not functioning). Lovely hostel though and in a very good location. Have stayed here several times and will stay again....

Dear rockysgirl38 Thank you for your recent review of our property, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the facilities of the hostel and room 13, our log burning stoves can sometimes be a little temperamental to light so apologies for that. I look forward to welcoming you back to the property soon. Kindest Regards Richard Robinson General Manager

Stayed here again for a couple of nights. Incredible value, both for the food and accommodation. Breakfasts are great, reasonable choice for evening meals and all freshly cooked. Took some yha first timers and they loved it too. Staff as friendly and helpful as ever.

I stayed at Hartington Hall for one night, whilst on a little UK break with my fiance. It was actually March 2014, rather than 2015, but I can't select that date! We used this as a base from which to visit Alton Towers, and I would recommend it to anyone! I booked a double room for us, rather than a...

We had an en suite room with lead paned windows. There are comfy sofas by wood burners in oak panelled rooms or a tucked away tv and wifi room for the teenagers. We self catered one evening meal and for breakfasts - the kitchen is well equipped but gets busy at popular times. One person had planned ahead though and...

We were married at Hartington Hall on the 13th December 2015. The hall had been recommended to us and, although we were surprised to have the suggestion of a youth hostel, once we had visited the beautiful building and met the friendly staff we knew it was right for us. We were planning a small, family, laid-back event and were...

Used the luxury accommodation which is separate to the hostel. Wow...like a private appartment. Who could not fail to like. Food also served and alcohol. Live in luxury at budget prices ! With the village just 400 metres away, highly recommended.
