At the risk of repeating all previous reviews Ballyfin really has set the bar for exclusive, boutique hotels. We were lucky enough to spend three nights here in November. This was Ireland at its best. Cold, crisp winter days with sun pouring through the windows and roaring fires. The 4pm tour of the house is a must to appreciate the history... More

I read the reviews and pored over the pics but to be honest nothing had prepared me for the unspeakable beauty and luxury of this stately home/hotel. It is justifiably crowned "the world's best hotel" by Conde Nast. My goddaughter's parents had rented out the entire hotel for three days, when she married an Irishman. My goddaughter and my now... The only problem with Ballyfin is that it totally spoils you for any other hotels. We were there with a small group and it really felt like a country house party - the sort of thing my aunt used to do in her youth, but with far better facilities. The house is furnished with lovely antiques, the food is delicious,... More

Ballyfin Demesne has been voted top hotel in Europe by readers of Conde Nast so not much to say except this honour is completely justified. Incredible service but not in the least stuffy. Beautiful house and grounds you can get lost in and never meet another soul. This was our second visit and I am looking forward to the third.

We only arrived this afternoon but know I won't want to leave. Stunning setting and accommodation but what makes this place so special is the quality of staff who all care deeply about the history of Ballyfin and make you feel like you are a guest in their home. A very special treat to be here.

Everything about this hotel is first class. Included with the beautiful and comfortable room are breakfast and dinner, as well as pre-dinner drinks. Food is delicious, drinks plentiful. They went as far as to present me with my own dairy-free menu each night. Lovely house. Look for the secret doors! Bikes and boats available for use. Horse and buggy tour... More

My husband and I made a return visit to this hotel after our wonderful experience around the same time last year. Once again the weather was kind to us and we were able to enjoy the beautiful autumn colours of the estate's woodland. We were welcomed very warmly by the staff as returning guests. We stayed in the Knights Room... More

Dear Helene G, Many thanks for taking the time to write a detailed review on your return visit to Ballyfin. I treated my husband to an overnight visit, it is not somewhere you'd be visiting very often as it is very expensive. We had seen the restoration documentary on TV so I decided to take him for his 70th birthday. What a place, I just adored it. We travel quite a lot and this place is the most impressive ever.... We returned for our third visit to the best hotel in the world. Calling Ballyfin a hotel is strickly correct but we feel it is more like being asked back to a grand home, a stately home. It is rare to see at most top hotels that the hotel management and staff to come out to welcome the guests at... More

Having watched the restoration of Ballyfin Demesne on Vimeo I decided to go there for a treat. Following my booking I learned that I was now going to the No 1 Hotel in the World and it was on my doorstep (well in Ireland) no planes or ships and that in itself omitted stress. Thinking I was Lady Mary I... More

Set at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in the centre of Ireland, Ballyfin is a place of history and romance, of tranquility and great natural beauty. At Ballyfin formality is blended with ease and enjoyment. The house has long been admired as the most lavish Regency mansion in Ireland, and after eight years of restoration, Ballyfin re-opened in May 2011 as a small 5 star country house hotel like no other. It offers the very best of Irish hospitality in the most beautiful surroundings imaginable. Enjoy the splendid interiors decorated with Irish Art and antiques from around the world. With only twenty rooms for the 614 acre estate, it is the perfect place for a break from the stresses of the modern world and provides discretion and privacy like few other destinations. Conceived on a generous scale for receiving guests, Ballyfin combines magnificence and intimacy in its State rooms. From the grandeur of the Saloon at the heart of the house, the eighty-foot library, the sun filled Conservatory which is reached through a secret door hidden in a bookshelf in the library.
