Gougane Barra is an absolutely gorgeous place and was a perfect weekend getaway. I had booked the hotel for my companion’s birthday and Neil was beyond helpful from the moment I rang. I was particularly concerned about being able to book a room with a view, and I honestly don’t think we could have been given a more magical one...

Lovely little cafe at the side of the hotel, looking out on to the Lough and beautiful church. We had late afternoon tea here at 4-30 and enjoyed some home made vegetable soup and sandwiches - local ham and cheese and absolutely beautiful. The lady who served us was welcoming and friendly and the food was substantive and freshly prepared....

Gougane Barra is a wonderful spot, tucked in a valley all on its own. It's quite a drive away from everywhere else, but a beautiful drive in itself. Nothing could prepare you for the beauty of Gougane Barra itself. Peaceful and unspoilt, a must see for all in the region

The hotel is located in a utopian, tranquil little part of heaven on earth. I had a lakeview room that was beautiful. The hotel itself is quite quaint and has lots of character. It's an 80 year old family run hotel and has its own unique charm. The staff are lovely people and all do their jobs calmly and diligently....

We recently stayed at the Gougane Barra Hotel on our last night in Ireland. The hotel is remote, yet beautiful. There is limited wi-fi, but the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside was lovely. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. The tireless energy of Neil and his wife were the most amazing part of the experience as their...

I stayed here for one night as part of a Driftwood tour. The owner was incredibly welcoming, even lending me a flashlight so I could go do some stargazing after dinner (which I highly recommend). The food was excellent, especially the desserts. And of course the setting is breathtaking. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

We popped into The Gougane Barra Hotel for lunch while visiting the area and we were greeted and seated by the owner Neil. What a lovely man, we had our baby boy of 10 months with us and he had lovely interaction with him. The seat was by the window and what a fantastic view we had, the lake and...

Main dining experience was second to none(i.e. superb). We felt like we were fine dining in a 3 star hotel(but we were!).The price reflected the quality of the food and we didn't mind paying it. We will hopefully return just for the food in the near future. The lake-view room with a good view was pleasantly balanced(not "too modern" but not...

This lovely historical inn has all the feel of another time and all the accommodations you could ask for. You are greeted at the door and taken to your room. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, both in and out. The bar is cozy and the dining is superb. The Gougane Barra is family owned and set...

Dear Ann H, Thank you for your review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your relaxing, restful stay with us and that you got the chance to explore Gougane Barra's walking paths. I passed on your compliments about the "superb" dining to the kitchen and restaurant teams. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back, Jane
