The resort looks nice overall but the bedrooms, are terrible. Main doors are difficult to close, Air-condos, are without remotes, fans speed controls are not fixed, water in bathrooms do not haveuch gust/power, cobwebs are everywhere, bedcovers are supposed to be used as blankets, floors are not properly cleaned and sink tiles are broken etc.
Food served at dinner are in small portions for a table of 10pax. Wow!

Something drastic steps need to be done here as it reflects the management's inefficiency and capability. Really a letdown in a place where nature is at its best.

It is really scenic, like Sabah water chalet with murky water. Good to catch fish right in front of your room. But it is really need good maintenance, tv without reception, roof leaking, etc. It looks like a rundown resort.

Lesser known, but surprisingly pleasant and serene place to retreat. Good service by friendly staff. Awesome views of both sunrise and sunset. Great view of glowing Singapore nightline. In the evening, the restaurant serves a variety of BBQ fresh seafood - cheap and tasteful. Best value seafood dinner here. Ample open spaces to enjoy the sea breeze in the evening while dining or relaxing. Good choice of rooms, from hostel/dorm type to chalets, all built on stilts above the sea. Provides meeting facilities, too. About 5 minutes drive to Kukup international ferry terminal to get to Tanjung Balai Karimun, Indonesia for a day trip of shopping.

If you are looking for no frills, best value accommodation, this is a recommended place to stay when in Kukup and Tanjong Piai.

TERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE
The resort is the worst resort that I have seen before. The unfriendly server makes me feels unconfortable. One of them is r*c*st.

The restaurant is part of the resort and is quite decent. The plus point is one gets to dine on the breezy pier overlooking the Singapore Straits and watch the ships sail past in the distant.

The seafood is menu-ed; not the live selection and priced according to portions: small medium or large.

Tanjung Piai is the southernmost point of the Asia mainland so dining here is more for this experience rather than the food. Kukup, a seaside fishing village 12km north is known for their seafood restaurants. So if one is purely going for food then Kukup is better.

Given the once in lifetime experience to dine at Asias “Lands End” then this place wont disappoint you. The price is reasonable and the palate is Malay whereas Kukups offering are mostly chinese style seafood.

Allow 30-60 minutes to explore the nearby mangrove swamp after or before you dine.

Stayed for a night. Check in was a breeze. The superior room given was room 218. However upon entry, the room was literally flooded. How could they issue a room with water ponding without knowing it... Is beyond me.

Negotiated for a new room, even though the counter insisted that all room are fully booked. Received a new room at level 1 - room 202. Room was poorly maintained, howeverhe only consolation was the bedsheets was clean.

Apart from the resort rooms, the place itself is a nice place to visit. Very rustic and a good place for family bonding. The seafoods served at the restaurant was cheap and delicious. Very affordable.

Overall, i would rate 5/5 for the nice atmosphere and experience but 1/5 for lodging.

I recently found myself at the Tanjong Piai Resort. It's about 1.5 hours from the Singapore-Malaysia border crossing. The resort is in the middle of nowhere and you wonder why and how it still exists as there is no real draw to the area.
If the resort itself was of a high standard; room quality and upkeep of the grounds then it may be a draw to Singaporeans looking to get some peace and quiet.
Unfortunately the rooms are a big let-down. Sheets on the bed horribly stained, walls a mess and the bathroom moldy.
Sunrise and sunsets here are breath-taking and the serenity found here is hard to find in Singapore.
Sea otters frolic around the resort and a band of monkeys roam the area. The monkeys, unlike their Singaporean brethren, didn't attack us just because we had bags. They ignored us. Another sign that tourists do not come here.
The food was ok.
I had to check online what their room rates are; around 71SGD on weekdays and 95SGD on weekends. I guess..that's reasonable...
We left imagining what the Tanjong Piai Resort could be (renovated rooms, fishing trips with the locals, a hovercraft connection to Singapore to remedy the multiple tides per day). I think people working and living in Singapore would love it if it was renovated and added more attractions. Then they could increase their room rates.

We booked a family room. Clean and air-conditioned. The beds were comfy. Basic furnishings only and there's no phone.
The place is very peaceful and has great view. This is a very nice place for people who wants quiet time.
The best thing about this place is the food served at the restaurant. The prices were very cheap, portions huge and the food were delicious. The seafood were cooked perfectly. I would definitely return here for the food.
If you plan to walk in instead of pay in advance, be sure to check first if their card machine works on the day you check in. Especially if you plan to stay for more than one day. Otherwise, be prepared to bring cash to check in.

this place has long been in existence but somehow not very well known. hence I think the management has been changing. The place is nice. Just a quite place to relax and smell the sea. Yes, I am planning to spend a night at this place and will then give a proper review of the place and services.
