While on-street parking was busy in the centre of Dalkeith, I was able to get a space towards the Country Park entrance, so a short walk to the County Hotel and its Coffee Bar. The Coffee Bar is on one side of the entrance hall, with doors...

Hysterically bad quality food, staff needed to be told the order 4 times and I had to help the guy with the chip and pin machine. Was served a mayo sandwich. I hope things have improved since I visited.

Room awful, dirty carpets, chipped furniture, coffee cups stuck to tray, plumbing noisy. Woken up at 6.50am by loud music and it took over 1 1/2hrs to sort out. Left before even having breakfast! Certainly would recommend to anyone.

The County has a perfect location on the edge of Dalkeith's Conservation area, two minutes from Dalkeith Palace and two minutes from the main shopping centre. The receptionist could not have been more friendly, or the barman more attentive: Belhaven's beer, if you are interested! The room was large and clean, with a full size en-suite and a view to...

If you want a hotel in Edinburgh over this period the prices are ridiculously extortionate! Staying here we only paid £60 for the night which allowed us to save hundreds! The bus into Edinburgh only cost...
