Located just outside of tiny Marahau, this is an ideal and quiet base for activities in the Abel Tammany NP. With lots of ensuite doubles, it seems more like a good motel than a hostel - but at a very good price! The manager is very friendly and has lots of good tips (and two nice dogs), it is well... This is a great little spot! Cath the owner is super friendly and helpful! Staying here is like staying with a family friend! The facilities are clean and the cabins give it a very summer camp for adults feel. It is a little bit off the beaten track which can be tough if you don't have a car but the... More

This is located in a very serene, beautiful countryside. consists mainly of 3 well-designed, well-maintained houses - rooms, common area, kitchen & toilet. Facilities are well-thought to bring convenience - auto-lighting in the toilet and outdoor areas, self-service laundry machines, swivelling drying rack, instant and abundant supply of hot water, heaters in the room. kitchen is spacious and clean and... Stayed for 2 nights in a very clean, comfy chalet-style room with shared facilities which were also very clean and well maintained although we could have done with an oven in the kitchen too. Loved the quiet, secluded setting and the proximity to the start of the Abel Tasman track-only a 5 minute drive. Would be hard to get around... More

Great location but not particularly good facilities unless you don't mind taking a torch and walking out through the car park to the toilet in the middle of the night in the pitch black. No torch or lights outside. The double room incredibly basic, well empty infact and was literally the size of a double bed. The advertised double bed... More

It's a nice, hidden place with all comfort to sleep, to cook and to stay, even if it's rain. It's near to the great walk and the water taxis. Cath or Al (the owners) will drive you there or fetch you, if you have no car. Al booked all things, we wanted to do, he even managed it, that my... More

This is a new, smallish place in the woods about 2 km from Kaiteriteri Beach so it offers a nice refuge from the crowds, but is still close to kayaking and tramping tracks. The facilities are new and the kitchen is well equipped. A nice place to meet fellow travelers in a serene nature setting.

We stayed in a 6 bed dorm which was basic but clean and comfortable. The charm of this place is the location of the site tucked away off the main road. It's very quiet at night and feels really safe. There's a good kitchen and a big communal fridge. The staff were very informative about the park and what we... More

This backpackersridge is quit, comfortable, well equipped for sleeping, cooking and hanging around after a day in forest. The owner is very helpfull. Especially for what to do in the ATP. Wifi worked which was great. Enjoy nature without freecell phone connection.

Stayed here for christmas 2013. Despite a miscommunication about a kayak trip cost (price quoted was single!) the stay was amazing. Pay for the ensuite rooms. Well worth it. Kitchen well equipped and stocked with spices and tea. There is a lovely living room with a huge dining table. There are lovely outdoor spaces and its easy to find. You... More
